🚨 NEW TELEHEALTH FAQ RELEASED BY CMS

On February 26, 2026, CMS.gov released an updated Telehealth FAQ sheet.

While much of the structure remains familiar, there are important updates that medical billers and coding professionals need to understand.

🎯 What’s truly NEW in this release:

1️⃣ Telehealth frequency limits permanently removed (huge)
CMS has permanently eliminated frequency limits for certain telehealth services, including subsequent inpatient and nursing facility visits and critical care consultations.

2️⃣ Virtual supervision now allowed for many services
Beginning in 2026, direct supervision requirements may be met through real-time audio/video technology for applicable services.

3️⃣ Telehealth flexibilities extended through 2027
Patients can continue receiving telehealth services from home without geographic restrictions through December 31, 2027.

Welcome back to our weekly series, where we highlight the incredible professionals who make up the AMBA community.

This week, we are proud to spotlight Leslie Joiner, CMRS — a billing executive whose career reflects dedication, leadership, and a passion for continuous learning.

Leslie is part-owner and serves as COO and CFO of Medical Office Services, where she has grown from a temporary employee into a key leader over the past 20 years. What began as a short-term opportunity quickly became a lifelong career, fueled by her drive to learn every aspect of the business and take on new challenges.

She brings extensive experience in both professional and institutional billing, with specialties including physical therapy, nephrology, hospital billing, and chronic care management. Leslie has been trained on 22 billing software systems and multiple clearinghouses, and has supported practices ranging from small offices to large multi-provider organizations.

As a Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist (CMRS) and former Rural Health Clinic billing specialist, Leslie values the constant opportunity to grow in this industry and the professional community that supports it. She credits forums, associations, and peer collaboration as invaluable resources for continued learning.

Outside of her career, Leslie is a proud mother of three daughters and has been married for 20 years. Her journey reflects resilience, leadership, and a genuine love for the medical billing profession.

Monday Member Spotlight 🌟

Welcome back to our weekly series, where we highlight the dedicated professionals who make up the AMBA community.

This week, we are excited to spotlight Ashley Doctorman, CBCS, CPC, CH-CBS, DLS — a skilled coding professional whose career reflects curiosity, growth, and a strong commitment to serving her healthcare community.

Ashley brings 13 years of experience in medical coding and revenue cycle operations and currently serves as a Certified Medical Coder with Rural Health Inc, a Federally Qualified Health Center supporting multiple facilities and providers across several counties. In her role, she handles charge entry, claim submissions, and follow-up as part of a collaborative billing team that supports medical, dental, behavioral health, and OB/GYN services.

Her career journey has given her a well-rounded perspective on the healthcare revenue cycle. Ashley has worked in several areas including patient services, medical records, and revenue cycle operations, building a strong foundation that allows her to understand the process from front-end patient interactions through backend billing and reimbursement.

Ashley’s passion for healthcare and dedication to continuous learning have been key drivers in her success. She embraces the ever-changing nature of the medical field and is always eager to expand her knowledge to better serve her organization, providers, and patients. She also has many goals she hopes to accomplish in the coming years and is excited to see where her career journey leads.

Outside of work, Ashley enjoys spending time with her family and horseback riding — activities that reflect her appreciation for balance, connection, and the things that matter most.
