If someone takes a tumble off the ladder this holiday season, the chart might read a little like this:

Because of course ICD-10 needs to know:
✔️ What you fell from
✔️ Where you were

🌟 Monday Member Spotlight 🌟
Welcome back to our weekly series where we highlight the incredible professionals who make up the AMBA community!

This week, we are excited to spotlight Carey Flores, CPB, CMRS, CRCR — a passionate billing professional whose enthusiasm for the revenue cycle shines through in everything she does.

Carey began her healthcare career in patient registration in Colorado, where she quickly discovered a strong interest in the billing and coding side of healthcare operations. That curiosity led her to the Cheyenne Regional Medicare Center, where she joined the billing call center in February 2024.

By December 2024, Carey applied for and transferred into the Physician Billing Department, a move that solidified her passion for the field. She especially enjoys claims follow-up, denials and appeals, claim analysis, and understanding payer guidelines — digging into what makes insurance “tick” and how to resolve complex billing challenges.

Her drive to learn and grow professionally led Carey to earn multiple credentials, including Certified Professional Biller (CPB) through AAPC, Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist (CMRS) through AMBA, and Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) through HFMA.

Most of all, Carey brings genuine enthusiasm to her role — and as she puts it, she truly loves going to work each day.
