Turning or moving patients

Gathering medical supplies

Bathing patients

Grooming patients by brushing their hair, teeth, shaving them, etc.

Feeding patients and documenting their food and liquid intake

Checking vital signs such as blood pressure and heart rate

Documenting information

Safety procedures

Transporting patients

Taking care of wounds

Home Care Aide Duties and Responsibilities:

Home Care Aides help patients in a variety of ways, which may include taking their vital signs or help patients with their daily functions, such as dressing or taking a bath. They can assist with planning for doctor’s appointments or other meetings and may organize transportation for them.

Other responsibilities may include:

Housekeeping, such as vacuuming or doing laundry,
Cooking meals,
Grocery shopping,
Reporting to nurses about patient’s health status,
Med management.
