On June 23rd, 2025, I was arrested and spent 72 days in Warren County Jail. I walked out with nothing but the clothes I came in with, until DeCoach stepped in. They picked me up, brought me to their Hamilton office, and gave me a chance to rebuild instead of giving up.
Because of DeCoach, I have real hope again. I’ve gained confidence, tools, and a future I actually believe in. I’m ready to live differently now, and I’m grateful I don’t have to do it alone.

Because of DeCoach, I found more than treatment... I found a place where people actually understand what I’ve been through and walk with me through every stage of recovery. When I came here, I was struggling and unsure if I could stay sober, but the structure, routines, and support helped me feel safe, build trust in myself again, and reconnect with the people I love.
Being surrounded by staff and peers who have lived experience made me feel understood, not judged, and helped me create a sense of community I never had before. Here, I learned I’m not a lost cause I have strength, purpose, and the tools I need to stay clean, grow, and even support others.

Because of DeCoach, I didn’t have to withdraw alone. After getting sick in the hospital while trying to come off fentanyl on my own, I asked for help and was directed here. Where I found a safe environment, a supportive community, and staff who truly understand because they’ve been in my shoes.
Surrounded by people going through the same fight and guided by those who know recovery firsthand, I finally feel empathy, connection, and hope instead of fear and isolation.

Each of them came in scared, broken, or unsure if recovery was even possible — and they discovered that they weren’t alone. They learned they could ask for help, lean on others, and trust a community built on lived experience.

Because of DeCoach, they now walk in sobriety, purpose, and confidence. They found tools, sponsors, sober support, and a foundation that will carry them into a new life. They learned that they can stay clean, stay grounded, and stay connected — not because they’re perfect, but because they finally have the support system they always needed. From Dustin, to Scott, to Brandy, to Judith, and so many others who pour their hearts into this work, DeCoach provided a path forward when hope seemed impossible. And now, each of them can say with certainty: “I have a chance.”

When I came to DeCoach, I was deep in my addiction. I was using crack co***ne, living in my car, not seeing my kids, and not being the mother they deserved. I had truly hit rock bottom. I didn’t believe I was capable of a better life, until I walked through these doors. What I discovered here was something I never expected: I’m stronger than I ever thought I was. I learned that I deserve a better life, and that recovery makes that life possible if I keep showing up and doing the work.

The most meaningful part of my journey is that I found me again. I learned how to love myself, something I hadn’t done in a very long time. Because of this program, my kids have their mom back, and I have my life back. To anyone who’s scared to take this step I get it, I was terrified too. I felt far gone. But taking this step was the bravest thing I’ve ever done, and I’m so grateful I did. Because of DeCoach, I am alive today.

A big part of my role is navigating the constant changes in the treatment landscape; new legislation, new regulations, new barriers that can make getting help feel overwhelming. My job is to cut through that red tape so that the people providing care and the people receiving it can focus on what truly matters: healing. I work to make the day-to-day process smoother, safer, and more accessible for everyone who walks through our doors.

And after doing this for years, I can say this with certainty: people change in ways that are absolutely remarkable. I’ve seen individuals walk in on one of the worst days of their lives; sick, exhausted, defeated, and then a few months later, they’re standing taller, clearer, lighter… almost like you’re talking to a completely different person. Watching that transformation, watching hope return to someone’s eyes, is what keeps me going. It’s proof that recovery is real, and that change is always possible.

Whenever we get a call from someone or from a worried parent, saying their loved one is struggling with fentanyl, it hits hard. Fentanyl is everywhere, and its grip is powerful. Hearing that pain in someone's voice is heartbreaking, but the very first thing we make sure they know is this: you are not alone, and you are not beyond help.
