March is Endometriosis Awareness Month, a time to bring attention to a condition that affects millions of women worldwide. 🌎

Approximately 1 in 10 women and girls in the United States, and more than 176 million people globally, are living with endometriosis. Despite how common it is, the average patient waits 7 to 10 years before receiving a diagnosis.

Although endometriosis is often associated with infertility, many individuals are able to conceive with the help of assisted reproductive technology (ART) procedures such as in vitro fertilization. 🩺

Endometriosis is an inflammatory disease that occurs when tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus in areas where it does not belong. This tissue can cause inflammation, pain, scarring, and adhesions that may affect reproductive organs as well as other areas within and outside of the pelvis.

Some people experience significant pelvic or abdominal pain, especially during menstrual cycles or in*******se, while others may have few or no noticeable symptoms at all.

Greater awareness can help lead to earlier diagnosis, better treatment options, and improved quality of life.

During Endometriosis Awareness Month, we stand with those living with this often misunderstood disease and continue advocating for education, research, and compassionate care.

Fun fact: s***m can live in the female reproductive tract for up to 5 days, but the egg only lives for about 12 - 24 hours after it’s released. ⏳

This is why the fertile window includes the five days leading up to ovulation and the day ovulation occurs.

If you are trying to conceive (TTC), aim to have in*******se during this window, when pregnancy is most likely to happen. Timing is more important than frequency, so track your cycle and know when you are ovulating!

Research shows that Black women are nearly twice as likely to experience infertility compared to White women, with conditions like uterine fibroids, endometriosis, and PCOS being more common. These conditions are often diagnosed later, reducing treatment options and success rates.

Despite higher rates of infertility, Black women are less likely to access treatment and if they do, may wait twice as long before seeking help. Maternal mortality rates also remain significantly higher for Black women in the U.S.

This Black History Month, as we honor the strides of progress, we must also address the ongoing racial disparities in reproductive healthcare. At SpringCreek Fertility, we are committed to supporting all family-building journeys by providing every patient with the respect, compassion, and expertise they deserve.

Equitable fertility care means access, understanding, and solutions that work for everyone. Our team is here to support you with exceptional care, every step of the way.
