Everyone is welcome to attend a committal service to honor a Veteran with no known next of kin. Charles E. Love served in the Navy during the Vietnam era, from 1969-1974. He was a Machinist's Mate Second Class Petty Officer. The service is tomorrow, Thursday, March 12th at 9:00 a.m. at Dayton National Cemetery. Please assemble by 8:45 at Cortege Lane 2 to drive in procession to the committal shelter.

VA Deputy Secretary Paul Lawrence, Ph.D., joined Federal News Network’s “Federal Drive” to discuss VA’s nationwide rollout of the Federal Electronic Health Record (EHR). This is one of the most significant transformations in VA history.

VA Launches PTSD Coach 4.0: Enhancements and Accessibility Improvements
PTSD Coach is a free mobile application designed to support individuals who have experienced traumatic events by providing education, coping tools, and symptom tracking. The latest update to PTSD Coach introduces a range of significant enhancements aimed at improving personalization and usability.
With version 4.0, users can now set personalized goals and receive suggested activities to help achieve them, making the app a more interactive and tailored experience. Additional features include the ability to log medication use for better self-management, track triggers in real time to support symptom monitoring, and identify a personal support network for added connection. The app is available for free download on the App Store and Google Play.

VISN 10 Interim Director Jill Dietrich-Mellon visited Dayton VA today. She met with the Executive Leadership Team to discuss the Electronic Health Record (EHR) which goes LIVE in June. She also stopped by the Pharmacy, the new ICU and the hospice unit. Ms. Dietrich-Mellon was the Medical Center Director at Dayton VA before leaving in 2019. She was impressed with the progress and newer things on campus for Veterans. She called the hospice unit a loving, calming home. Ms.Dietrich-Mellon is also visiting other VAs in southern Ohio. VISN 10 covers Ohio, Michigan, Indiana and parts of Kentucky.

March is Women's History Month.
We give special thanks to the brave women of the 6888th Central Postal Battalion. The Six Triple Eight were 824 enlisted and 31 commissioned Black women, drawn from the Women’s Army Corps (WAC), to boost morale by tackling a backlog of U.S. forces’ undelivered mail. Charity Adams Earley was the commanding officer. She later made her home in Dayton and made a big impact in the community. The Dayton VA Women's Clinic was renamed in her honor in June 2024.

K-9 officers from Indianapolis VA and Montgomery County Sheriff's Office joined Dayton VA to conduct a random sweep of the Domiciliary today. Dayton VA K-9 Officer Layne Byers said they wanted to ensure no drugs were in the building. If so, they would get help for any Veteran dealing with addiction issues or in a crisis. Dayton VA’s K-9-unit trains with the sheriff’s office monthly and has trained with Indianapolis VA before. Officer Larry Kuhn says it’s a way to build a bond and cooperation with another VA and help grow the VA K-9 program. The dogs, Ice, Otto and Duke, searched the building and did not find any drugs.
