Dayton VA staff and leadership joined volunteers from the Air Force Sergeants Association and the Air & Space Forces Association to spread some smiles. The Dayton VA Medical Center and our clinics will be closed for the Presidents' Day federal holiday this upcoming Monday, February 16th. Our Emergency Department and inpatient missions will remain open. We will resume normal operations on Tuesday, February 17th.

Dozens showed up to pay their respects to four unaccompanied Veterans at a joint committal service at Dayton National Cemetery. Army Private Jesse Patterson, Jr., Air Force Sergeant Larry Morgan, Air Force A1C Bernard Eckstein, and Army Specialist John Alan Brown were honored for their service and given a final salute. Thanks to all who attended.

Members of the American Legion visited inpatients today in honor of National Salute to Veteran Patients Week. The members gave each Veteran a $35 gift card. District 3 Gifts for Yanks Commander Bob Steggmann said the gift cards are a small token of appreciation and to thank the Veterans for their service. Medical Center Director Jennifer DeFrancesco also visited with the patients.

There will be a committal service honoring four unaccompanied Veterans this Thursday, February 12th at 9am Dayton National Cemetery. They are Army Private Jesse Patterson, Jr., Air Force Sergeant Larry Morgan, Air Force A1C Bernard Eckstein, and Army Specialist John Alan Bown. All except Patterson have already been laid to rest but all four will be honored together for their service. Everyone is welcome to pay their respects. Attendees should arrive at Cortege Lane 2 by 8:45am to drive in the procession to the committal shelter for the service.
