I hope everyone had a special Thanksgiving! My husband and I hosted my granddaughter and her family on Friday. It was a pizza celebration. Please be careful while shopping and watch your budget. I certainly am doing so! I will start posting more frequently. I strive to find ways to inspire and encourage, so keep an eye out

Life has been extremely busy! I’m still unpacking and slowly setting up my office. I am 100% doing Telehealth. I love being able to interact with my clients via video. If anyone has questions about how this works, please post below your questions (please do not disclose personal information), I would be happy to respond. I am able to do individual counseling, couples or families. Another change is that I now accept clients in my private practice and also accept clients through MDLIVE. The latter is a Telehealth company that offers a wide range of services, including counseling services.

I will try hard to post more often and to provide supportive posts that can be helpful to my followers. Thank you all for hanging in there with me as I have gone through a year of significant personal loss and considerable life change.

I still serve Indiana and Ohio residents. I hope to add Maryland, Pennsylvania and Washington D.C. that will probably take a year to do.

I’m a day late, but Happy New Year to all of you! May this year bring to each of us our share of blessings and joy! May our troubles be lighter and may our country find greater peace and relief from COVID!

I haven’t posted in quite awhile. Some of you may know that I lost my sister in December, my son March 1, and my brother-in-law two weeks later. I have also relocated. Life has been filled with grief, and very busy, but it’s also had joy and the blessing of working with my clients. The following is especially for those of you who may be grieving any type of loss. It comes from the funeral home that took care of my son. I thought today’s message was wise, well beyond the loss by death, but really any loss.

"I will not say, do not weep, for not all tears are an evil."

- J.R.R. Tolkien

You may be trying to hide your tears. It might feel like you are being strong by not crying. To cry is not to be weak, but rather to release your sorrow so that you can let go of it and move forward. You may need to cry every day. Cry...but then dry your eyes and live your life with joy until the next time you need to shed the inevitable tears that come with the grieving process. Crying is a natural part of healing. Cry, but then laugh and smile as you live a full and meaningful life.

I haven’t posted for awhile. It has been a rough few months. I lost three beloved family members from mid-December to mid-March. One was my dear son. Others sent two things to me that has helped me understand my grief and encouraged me. Some of you who may read this, will also have experienced loss, if so I hope they are helpful to you. Blessings to all of you!

"Take ownership and accountability for your feelings. No one can make you feel anything. If you're angry, upset, disappointed, or sad, that's on you. Owning your life starts by owning your emotions." Harry Petsanis

Too many people think that others can make them feel a certain way! Certainly, others influence us, but it’s our interpretation of the event or words that decide what we feel. For example, many years ago I was in a rather bad car accident, it was two other drivers who caused the accident. For awhile following the accident I felt angry and resentful of the other drivers. I blamed them! Eventually, I came to realize that they had no intent to harm me, and that in reality, the wreck was an Accident! I no longer felt angry, but felt some empathy for the other drivers. So, did the other drivers MAKE me angry?

In these very long days, weeks and months of COVID-19, it is important to recognize what we can and can not control. I especially encourage all of you to find creative ways to see friends and be open to do new things like group parties via Zoom or any other platform. Be safe and encourage and support one another!
