Our Early Intervention Department partners with Be Ready By 5, and we want folks to know that reading a book over and over has many benefits for young children. No matter what age, doing this can teach valuable skills: you notice things you hadn’t seen before, or develop an appreciation for different aspects of the story. When it comes to books, try these 3 things: Read the book together with your child, ask questions about their favorite parts, and then take turns retelling the story. These actions help develop pre-reading skills and lay the foundation for future school success. These pre-reading skills lay the foundation for future school success.
