🌟 TOPY Family Spotlight: Growing Gratitude at Home 🌟
Helping kids build emotional intelligence starts with small, meaningful moments—and gratitude is one of the most powerful places to begin.
At TOPY, we coach students to notice the good, name their feelings, and strengthen the habits that help them stay grounded, kind, and connected. Families can do the same at home with simple, daily practices. ❤️
🌱 How to Build Gratitude With Your Child (TOPY Style!)
1. Name the Good Together
During dinner or bedtime, ask:
✨ “What’s one thing that made you feel thankful today?”
This helps children practice awareness and emotional expression—core pieces of SEL growth.
2. Catch the Kindness
Notice the small helpful moments: sharing a toy, feeding the pet, helping a sibling.
✨ “I saw that! That was thoughtful.”
Positive reinforcement strengthens empathy and relationship skills.
3. The TOPY Two-Minute Pause
Take a short break with your child and guide them to look around the room. Ask them to choose three things they’re grateful for and explain why.
🌈 This builds calming skills, self-regulation, and optimism.
4. Gratitude Notes (Kid Edition!)
Invite your child to write or draw a note for someone who helped them today—a teacher, friend, coach, or sibling.
📝 This boosts connection, confidence, and communication.
💛 A Gentle Reminder for Parents
Gratitude grows through modeling. When you name your own moments of thankfulness, your child learns to do the same.
✨ “I’m grateful for the time we spent together today.”
✨ “I noticed you tried really hard—thank you.”
Small words make a big difference
