Halifax Health is proud to announce that Mike Marques, Vice President and Chief Information Technology Officer at Halifax Health, has been named to Becker’s Hospital Review’s 2026 “135 Hospital and Health System CIOs to Know” list. The annual list recognizes top information technology leaders who are driving digital transformation, advancing patient care, and strengthening the technological foundations of health systems nationwide.

This recognition highlights the impact of Marques’ leadership in overseeing system‑wide technology strategy and operations at Halifax Health. Mr. Marques, who joined the organization in 2002, has advanced through multiple IT leadership roles before assuming his current position in 2020. In this role, he is responsible for ensuring that Halifax Health maintains secure, modern, and resilient technology platforms that support both clinical excellence and organizational efficiency.

Earlier this week, Dr. Jennifer Chan served as Doctor of the Day in the Florida Senate at the invitation of Senator Tom Leek. The Doctor of the Day program was founded in 1960 to deliver medical services to the members of the Florida Legislature and all legislative employees.

Please join us in congratulating the February 2026 Team Member of the Month, Grace Linkinhoker, RN, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit!

Grace has been a Halifax Health Team Member since 2021. Grace serves as a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse, providing comprehensive, evidence-based care to critically ill and premature neonates. Her responsibilities include managing high-acuity patients supported by mechanical ventilation, CPAP, and other advanced respiratory and cardiac monitoring. Grace conducts thorough neonatal assessments, quickly recognizes changes in patient condition, and intervenes appropriately to promote optimal outcomes.

In addition to her clinical expertise, Grace delivers compassionate, family-centered care by supporting families during highly stressful and emotional experiences.

Grace consistently demonstrates a proactive approach and is a trusted member of the care team. She anticipates patient and unit needs by staying ahead of changes in clinical status, communicating clearly with providers, and taking initiative to address concerns before they escalate. Grace routinely assists coworkers without being asked and contributes to a smooth workflow across the unit. Grace's willingness to share knowledge, provide guidance, and step in wherever needed reflects her strong sense of accountability and commitment. Her proactive mindset strengthens team performance, supports a positive unit culture, and directly enhances the level of care delivered in the NICU.

While Miss America was in town for the Daytona 500 race weekend, she made a special visit to our Halifax Health - Speediatrics Children’s Unit to spread a little cheer! We are grateful to her for taking the time to brighten the day of our youngest patients with kindness, love, and hugs 💙

Halifax Health is proud to announce the addition of two highly skilled physicians to its team: Basheer Elsolh, MD, MPH, FRCSC, board-certified surgical oncologist, and Katelyn Joubert, DO, fellowship-trained ophthalmologist specializing in oculoplastic surgery.

Dr. Elsolh earned his medical degree from Queen’s University in Canada and completed his general surgery residency at the University of Toronto. Dr. Elsolh holds a Master of Public Health in health care management from Harvard University and completed a fellowship in complex general surgical oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia.

Dr. Joubert completed her fellowship in oculoplastic surgery at the University of Florida following an ophthalmology residency at Geisinger Medical Center, where she served as Chief Resident. She earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine and graduated summa cm laude from Louisiana State University with a degree in kinesiology.

Congratulations to Drake Brown and Renzo Nunez, Adult Psychiatric Services for being awarded as our quarterly Power of Tower winners!

Drake and Renzo were recognized and selected as the quarterly winners from a group of Team Members who had received TOWER recognition cards between November 2025 - January 2026 by the Tower Committee. As a show of appreciation, they will receive a gift card and a certificate commemorating their exceptional behavior.

Upon entering the gym after their workday, Drake and Renzo discovered a male passed out on the floor. The two mental health technicians quickly acted and performed CPR until EMS arrived on the scene. Later it was discovered that the person in question was a Halifax Health Team Member, working in Security. He was visiting the gym on a day off when this incident occurred. The Team Member survived and continues to take next steps towards recovery. Drake and Renzo displayed an honorable level of heroism and selflessness this day, leading to a positive outcome.
