This past Monday, Halifax Health | UF Health - Medical Center of Deltona hosted a ribbon cutting to celebrate the finishing touches on our expanded Emergency Department, 4th floor, and 6th floor!

These enhanced spaces are designed to support high-quality, compassionate care for our community.

Halifax Health is pleased to welcome Caren Wilkie, MD, a board‑certified general surgeon and fellowship‑trained breast surgical oncologist with a focus on benign and malignant breast disease and high-risk breast conditions.

Dr. Wilkie brings decades of surgical experience, academic accomplishment, and military service to Halifax Health. She earned her medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine after graduating summa cm laude from Emory University, where she completed dual degrees in English and Biology. She completed her general surgery residency at the University of Florida Shands Teaching Hospital, where she also served as Chief Resident, and later pursued advanced fellowship training in Breast Surgical Oncology at Moffitt Cancer Center.

Sugar Mill Country Club members and Halifax Health are proud to share that the 6th Annual Swings for Cancer - a weeklong celebration of sport, community, and compassion held in February raised $80,800 to support local patients receiving care at our Halifax Health - Charles L. and Miki N. Grant Cancer Center for Hope ⛳

This generous support helps ensure that individuals and families in our community have access to advanced cancer treatment close to home!

Please join us in congratulating the April 2026 Team Member of the Month, Wright Smith, Financial Analyst Sr., Corporate Accounting & Finance!

Wright has been a Halifax Health Team Member since 2022. He is responsible for providing leasing support, financial and capital analysis, decision support for operational initiatives, and accurate financial reporting. He is known for his resourcefulness and ownership. Wright effectively communicates, refines analyses, and helps structure processes to clearly define expectations. He goes above and beyond and is an imperative part of our team.

Wright demonstrates exceptional service through his professionalism, integrity and reliability. He has a strong commitment to our organizational values and is dedicated to Halifax Health. We were proud to celebrate the future graduating nursing class (Spring 2026) from Daytona State College at our Graduate Nurse Celebration!

During the event, students had the opportunity to connect with Nurse Managers from a variety of departments, learn more about our nursing specialties, and explore the residency programs we offer!

Graduation headshots were also taken and later printed and framed, allowing each student to receive their photo during their Pinning Ceremony - a special keepsake from a day filled with inspiration, encouragement, and support as they prepare for this exciting next chapter.

We were honored to host our Halifax Health - Foundation Board and Associates meeting recently, and we continue to be inspired by the strength of our community.

Our new electronic medical record partner, Epic, generously contributed $22,000 to fund new monitors for our Halifax Health - Center for Women and Infant Health!

Dr. Rohan Sarna also shared an incredible presentation and case studies highlighting the advances being made in endoscopic minimally invasive surgery at UF Health Neurology - Neurosciences Center at Halifax Health.

It was a day full of generosity and shared commitment to exceptional care! Thank you to everyone who made it possible 💙

Team Members from Halifax Health - Outpatient Women and Infant Care and Halifax Health - Center for Women and Infant Health came out to celebrate the spring season with our friends at Tanger Outlets, Daytona Beach last week for a day full of balloons, bubbles, and the Easter Bunny 🐰

Families enjoyed a fun, welcoming atmosphere while learning more about the maternity and infant care resources available in our community!

We are grateful for every opportunity to connect with parents, parents-to-be, and caregivers outside the hospital walls 💗
