Yesterday, Exceptional Equestrians had the pleasure of hosting Civic Scholars from the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay for a behind-the-scenes look at our mission in action.

These bright, engaged students spent the afternoon touring our facility, learning about our programs, and experiencing firsthand how therapeutic horsemanship supports physical, cognitive, and emotional growth for people of all ages.

Watching them connect with our horses—and seeing their curiosity, compassion, and enthusiasm was truly inspiring. We’re grateful for their interest in community impact and for taking the time to learn how EE is working to expand access to life-changing therapies.
Thank you, UW-Green Bay Civic Scholars! We look forward to seeing where your leadership journeys take you.

Help Us Close the Gap!

Every therapy session at Exceptional Equestrians brings strength, confidence, and hope to a child or adult who depends on our services. But did you know each session carries a funding gap of $51.14?

Insurance and reimbursements don’t cover the full cost of care—private donations make up the difference. That means your gift directly ensures no one is turned away because of financial need.

This holiday season, you can help riders continue their life-changing progress.

Your gift helps close the gap—$51.14 at a time.

As one of the individuals who helps support the EE corn tent at the Pink Flamingo each year, this gentleman has a special place in our hearts- thanks for all you do, Bryan!

Many are familiar with the popular idiom of a person who “wears many hats.” For Bay View Math Teacher Bryan Vande Hei, this couldn’t be more true. Outside of teaching, Mr. Vande Hei coaches cross country and boys basketball at Bay View, referees for basketball and umpires for baseball, and most recently has become a certified bus driver for Lamers Bus Lines. 🚌

Mr. Vande Hei decided to become a bus driver so he could drive his own athletic teams to their meets and events. “I like being involved and wanted to help out,” said Vande Hei. “It also means that our student-athletes are not missing as much academic time.” Mr. Vande Hei was a three-sport athlete growing up, and still has a great passion for sports today. 🏴‍☠️

After 26 years in the Howard-Suamico School District, Mr. Vande Hei values the relationships he has built with students and families both in and out of the classroom. “Being both a teacher and coach is rewarding and allows me to see students in a different light,” said Vande Hei. “Some kids who struggle in the classroom really shine on the field, and vice versa. It’s important to notice their strengths in different ways.” We appreciate your dedication to our school community, Mr. Vande Hei! 💙

Jake’s getting a little hoof care today! Our farriers play an essential role in keeping our therapy horses healthy and ready to serve our riders. Exceptional Equestrians’ Hippotherapy program depends on the expertise of medically trained clinicians, the dedication of our volunteers, the care of our equine manager, and the partnership of incredible animals like Jake. It truly takes a team to make healing happen.

We are so honored to have Allison as a volunteer. She is truly an incredible human!

❤ Allison Broullire is our volunteer of the week! ❤

Allison has volunteered more than 200 hours at Exceptional Equestrians since 2021. She regularly assists with the Adaptive Riding program, where she leads a horse during the lesson while taking directions from the instructor. Colleagues say she is a kind and positive person who provides encouragement and safety to riders throughout their sessions. Allison helps foster independence with participants and is always willing to provide guidance when needed. All these traits, as well as her reliability and her flexibility to help however necessary, make her an essential part of the Adaptive Riding program.

Allison began volunteering at Exceptional Equestrians as a freshman in high school to achieve the number of service hours required of her. Having ridden horses since the third grade, this opportunity sounded like a perfect fit for her. These last several years, she says, “have shaped me into the person I am today. They have also allowed me to know how much horses can positively influence a life. The idea of being able to help others know and experience the same was something I could not pass up.” Staff say they have watched her grow and gain confidence in both her horsemanship and personal skills. Thank you, Allison, for the meaningful impact you've had on the lives of others in our community!
