We just checked on our snowflake slide here at Family Wellness Counseling, and our hearts are so full. Seeing how many of you have taken the time to make snowflakes for the Christmas parade has truly overwhelmed us with gratitude.
Every single snowflake represents a moment of kindness… a reminder that community is built through small acts of love… and a reflection of the beautiful people who continue to show up and support us.
To everyone who has created one so far thank you for being part of something that means so much to us. Your creativity, your joy, and your willingness to be involved make this season feel even more magical.
We are overjoyed… and we’re just getting started.
Keep the snowflakes coming! ❄️💙✨

❄️✨ To the incredibly kind soul who sent us these snowflakes… thank you.
Your generosity truly moved us. At Family Wellness Counseling, we dedicate our hearts to supporting others, and receiving something so thoughtful from you reminded us how powerful kindness can be. These snowflakes weren’t just gifts they were a beautiful reminder that compassion can reach across any distance.
You didn’t have to do this, yet you chose to show us such warmth and encouragement. And in doing so, you reminded us that the work we do matters… that the messages we share resonate… and that even one person can make a lasting impact.
Please know how much this meant to us. Your support lifted our spirits in such a meaningful way, and we will carry this moment with us. Thank you for taking the time, for thinking of us, and for brightening our day more than you know.
From our hearts to yours,
thank you. ❄️💙

📢 Community Update from Our Food Pantry

The need in our community has grown quickly — we’ve seen twice the number of families coming for food assistance in the past few weeks. With the government shutdown and SNAP benefits paused, many local families are struggling.

We are open every Wednesday 9–11 AM and the 3rd Saturday 9–11 AM, serving DeBary and Orange City residents only.

🌞 On 3rd Saturdays, we also serve a free hot breakfast — no sign-up, just come as you are.

Our pantry is 100% funded by donations, and thanks to our partnership with Second Harvest, monetary gifts let us buy far more food than retail donations can.

Who We Are...

My name is Lindsey Stenborg. I am a Licensed Family and Marriage Therapist and certified Play Therapist. I specialize in working with families, kids, tweens, and teens. My hope for my clients is that we can work together to help them achieve the happiness they really want as a family. I have worked with families who have experienced severe traumas, loss, changes in family situations, school issues, sibling issues, peer related stresses, and many other things. I utilize several therapeutic techniques including: child centered play therapy, expressive arts, sand tray, bibliotherapy, and traditional talk therapy. I truly believe that we each have the ability to make changes in our lives, but sometimes we need a some guidance or support to get through those changes.

Another thing about Family Wellness Counseling that sets us apart, is Milo Jones. Milo Jones is my 1.5 year old pug who is a certified therapy dog, aka Therapug! Milo brings so much joy and comfort to my clients. He is amazing at giving kisses, or just being something to cuddle with when needed. I have seen a very noticeable difference that he has made in my client’s lives since starting to come to the office. Now that he is certified we hope to start volunteering in our community as well.

Many people ask about what insurance I take or what my rates are. I currently do not accept insurance. I have found in the past that insurance companies really limit what we can do therapeutically. Many times there is a limit on the number of sessions they will cover, or they will not cover specific expressive therapies at all. I have also found that insurance companies require a formal diagnosis in order to cover services, and that they will only cover certain diagnosis. Many of my clients don’t fit into these boxes. I know that many clients rely on insurance to help off set the cost of therapy. I am able to provide out of network documentation that you can submit to your insurance company. I have also been able to accept many Health Saving Accounts. I also work with each family individually regarding the cost. I use a sliding scale fee system; meaning we discuss what you as a family could realistically afford for services, and we work together to find a what works for your budget.
