Once a month, Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Plymouth gathers up items that they collect for Pregnancy Resource Centers and then chooses one to distribute the donations to.

We were blessed to be the recipients of this month's collection. And what a collection it was! Al and Emmanuel dropped off two full car loads of diapers, wipes, blankets, clothing, bathing items, strollers, pack n plays, and so much more. It took three people all afternoon to sort through and put everything away!

That same day one of our clients who desperately needed something to help her soothe her fussy newborn came into the office. We were able to give her the beautiful swing that was donated and she even tried it out with her daughter who immediately calmed down.

She says, "Here in Detroit, I have no family or close friends nearby, so your kindness truly means the world to me.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart!"

Wondering what exactly The Lennon Center does for the metro Detroit community?

As a pregnancy resource center, we help women and men from all over the metro area. We offer free, limited ultrasounds, and free pregnancy testing.

The ultrasound clinic is overseen by our nurse manager as well as an OB/GYN who reviews all client ultrasound scans.

Pregnancy resource centers in Michigan provided close to 10,000 free pregnancy tests and ultrasounds by registered nurses/medical sonographers. This is amazing!

Here's what you can do to help your local PRC:
• Pray: The emotional energy given by those who work in the pregnancy help movement is demanding. Pray for spiritual refreshment for those who work in PRC's.
• Volunteer: Connect with your local pregnancy help organization and see what their needs are. You may have just the right skills to fill a need.
• Donate items: Call your local pregnancy help organization and ask them what items they need to bless a new mother (such as diapers or maternity clothes) and start collecting. Not only will you bless a center, you will bless multiple families as well. We are in extreme need of size 6 diapers and wipes. • Give: Without the generous donations of those within the community, pregnancy centers would not be able to provide their services for free.
• Share the love: Share the good work of the pregnancy help community with your social networks.

The Charlotte Lozier Institute reports that in the United States PRC's reach more than a million women each year who might otherwise pursue abortion.

Recent stats show that the total value of goods and services pregnancy resource centers provided in Michigan was $12.3 million!

These are all goods and services that were donated to Michigan PRC's that were then provided at no cost to women seeking help. Hands up for PRC's!

Since the beginning of this year, The Lennon Center has given an average of 303 packages of diapers a month in the over 2,400 assistance bags given out this year that include wipes, clothing, bottles, blankets, baby items, nursing and bathing supplies, strollers, pack n plays, and so much more! Thank you for helping us help others!

1998 saw the launch of World Kindness Day which formed out of the World Kindness Movement.

Since its creation more than two decades ago, the day has achieved truly global notice; events associated with the day have attracted participants from every inhabited continent.

Take some time today to perform an act of random kindness such as finding the good in another person and complimenting them, offering a smile to a stranger, or holding a door open for someone.

Kindness and connection go hand-in-hand. Be the change the world you want to see in the world!

Thanks to our donors, our clients received 313 packages of diapers and wipes during the month of October.

That's over $5,250 in diapers and wipes that were freely given! Amazing love and support for our families. Thank you!

In October, our parenting class clients received a total 238 material resource assistance boxes full of clothing and baby essentials such as bottles, pacifiers, nursing supplies, blankets, bibs, burp clothes, washcloths and towels, bouncy seats, swings, strollers, and other essential care items to help them provide for their children.

At The Lennon Center, we help families with their children up to age five through our parenting class programs.

We are all about walking with moms to empower families to be able to support their children and be good parents. Empower. Support. Parent. It's what we love to do!

Can you help us in meeting our greatest needs which are currently diapers and wipes by purchasing size 5 & 6 diapers and wipes on our Walmart registry or pick up a box and drop them off at the center during business our business hours of 9-3p on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday? Our thanks go out the 4th and 5th graders from Sacred Heart Catholic Grade School in Dearborn for the awesome job they did in decorating and selling cupcakes after mass last month in recognition of National Pro-Life Cupcake Day.

They raised over $300 for The Lennon Center! That's amazing!

It's Pregnancy Help Appreciation Week - Our favorite week of the year! Let's take a moment and acknowledge the wonderful work that pregnancy resource centers are doing for the greater community that they serve by providing compassionate support for women facing life changing decisions.

Pregnancy Resource Centers (PRC's) walk alongside families throughout pregnancy and beyond by blessing their clients with pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, parenting classes, material assistance, and so much more at no cost.

Former March for Life President Jeanne Mancini said, "The more than 3,000 pregnancy resource centers across our nation are on the frontlines every day helping women who want to keep their children to do so. These centers enjoy overwhelming support from Americans of every demographic,” she said, “providing tangible resources like food, clothing, and housing assistance as well as the emotional support and encouragement women who have chosen life are often seeking."

Stats compiled from the Charlotte Lozier Institute show PRC's across the nation have a 97% client satisfaction rate. That's a job well done!
