The office will be closed today Friday, April 3rd in observance of Good Friday.

There will be no parenting class or material assistance available today. Please join us next week as we return to our normal class schedule of Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday at 11am. Have a wonderful Easter weekend!

A prayer for Good Friday:

God, fill me with gratitude and grace to sit in the stillness that mourns your Son's death, yet celebrates the ultimate triumph of the cross.

As Jesus was ignored, laughed at, and unjustly crucified let me never take for granted His huge gift of love when He sacrificed His life to take my place.

Help remind me that His pain will not have the last word. And His death is not the end of the story.

Thank you Jesus that by your wounds we are healed and because of your sacrifice we can live free.

Thank you that sin and death have been conquered and help us walk in your hope, truth, and strength forever. - Anonymous

Our thanks go out to Deacon Jim from St. Andrews Catholic Church in Rochester for recently leading our staff in retreat.

Deacon Jim is a seminarian at Sacred Heart Seminary in Detroit. He was instrumental in the planning and implementation of Sacred Heart's Dinner for Life held on our behalf in the spring of 2025.

At our retreat, he shared messages of faith to encourage and empower our staff and filled our cups. We are grateful for his insight and the time he shared with us to energize our morning!

Deacon Jim says, "Pregnancy resource centers are modern day prophets. Preaching the Gospel with their work as missionary disciples of Jesus." Amen!

Get your calendars out TLC friends! We have a couple of dates that you will want to get on the books so you don't miss out.

On Thursday, June 4th we are going to start a new, fun event series called 'Cheers for Life'. Our first gathering will be at the Downey Brewing Company in Dearborn from 5-7pm with other dates at different locations throughout the year.

Also, plan on setting aside Thursday, October 8th for our fall fundraising gala at Laurel Manor in Livonia. More info to follow soon on both events.

Did you know that when your child understands that you value reading and sees you reading they will value reading as well?

Find books with topics that will interest your child and remember audio books can also be a great supplement to the reading routine, especially on trips. Reading ignites the imagination!

Don’t forget to ask your child questions while you are reading or listening together. This builds comprehension which means your child understands what they are hearing.

A simple phrase like, “What do you think will happen next?" is a great way to find out what your child is thinking and if they understand what they are hearing.

Talk about the characters in the story and ask your child questions about them. Remember to make reading time at home an experience with no pressure.

Create a special reading place in your home that is cozy and relaxing.

If you think your child is having difficulty in reading, talk to your child’s teacher and pediatrician so they can get your child the additional help they need.

We recently had Lakeisha from Lifeline Children's Services present to our staff on the incredible services that Lifeline offers to women in the metro Detroit area.

Lifeline believes the church is God’s chosen vessel to answer the call to care for orphans and vulnerable children in their distress.

They serve women facing unplanned pregnancies with Christ-centered compassion—walking with them through the challenges of today and the hope of tomorrow through adoption services.

Lifeline offers safe spaces for post-abortive women to find healing and restoration in the gospel, while also meeting the physical needs of expecting mothers so they know they are not alone.

They also work with children in foster care towards lasting family reunification whenever possible, partner with the global church to care for orphans in their communities, equip vulnerable children and families with Christ-centered education and therapy—providing tools for healing, growth, and a future filled with hope, as well as training and equipping local churches to lead ministries that care for vulnerable children.

So much beautiful work! Lakeisha gives a moving testimony to her work here https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1DKsp7aRku/.

We are grateful to be included in the circle of connection with Lifeline. https://lifelinechild.org/ Lifeline Children's Services

Let's meet the staff of The Lennon Center!

Our director, Mariann, learned about The Lennon Center when she recieved our newsletter and then shortly thereafter, met our founders.

Through the newsletter, she found out that we had a small educational program and decided to start volunteering. She felt that her background in psychology plus a Masters of Education would be a good complement in helping to grow the educational component of our programming. Mariann was soon brought on staff and became client services manager.

As director, she continues to teach our parenting classes and build on the framework that she has grown over the past 14 years she has been a vital part of our team.

She says, "My favorite thing about The Lennon Center is the chance to work with a family for many years and see both parents grow in their role, as well as see their children develop."

"I think the best thing we do for our clients is to support and educate them in their parenthood journey. Every parent is different and each child as well. It is a gift to be able to witness them both grow."

We would like to thank the Farmington Elks Lodge #1986 for recently hosting a baby shower to benefit The Lennon Center and more specifically, our clients.

With the assistance of American Heritage Girls Troop #0465, they were able to shower us with diapers, wipes, baby items, and books for our expecting moms. They also raised over $200 in donations!

We so appreciate all of the time and energy that went into putting this lovely shower together. So blessed! Thank you.
