Lifting Littles offers physical therapy and wellness services for both mothers and babies.

Lifting Littles Physical Therapy is a mobile practice in Atlanta GA that provides physical therapy and wellness services to both mothers and babies to help them reach their healthiest movement through education, prevention and treatment. Laura is a doctor of physical therapy specialized in both orthopedics and pediatrics. She is passionate about helping moms improve their strength, mobility, and biomechanics in order to be pain free and get back to what they love. She also loves working with "littles" (pediatrics) that have torticollis, developmental delays, and / or challenges with gross motor milestones. She believes in empowering families through awareness, education, and prevention because movement matters at every age!

Happy New Year! 🎉 Wanted to announce our sweet new addition to our family is here! Our precious baby girl is doing great and will be hanging in the Nicu for a few weeks. We are thrilled at what God has done to save this baby and to keep me safe through this complicated pregnancy. What a journey and we are so happy to be on the other side. Lifting Littles PT will be back up and running eventually but for now we are taking some sweet time to love on our babies. ❤️❤️❤️

Wow where to even begin! We are thrilled that I am pregnant and expecting our third child! This pregnancy has been very challenging as I have an abnormal growth in my placenta alongside our baby girl. This has caused increased health issues and risks with this pregnancy and I’m no longer able to physically treat clients at this time. I will be hospitalized in a few weeks until she makes her debut which hopefully will be at the end of December. Maybe I’ll finally set aside time in the hospital to actually post some stuff on social media haha 😆

We would love you to join us in prayer for the safety of this child and for my own health as we have a long way to go on this journey. We are so thankful to God for keeping this little miracle alive this long. I am so thankful to all my clients who have been so gracious and flexible in this season. I am also so thankful for our community who has loved and rallied alongside us in the ups and downs of this pregnancy. ❤️❤️❤️

Tummy time class is back! This time we are going to try a series of 3 weeks in a row so we can connect and build off of each class. Sign up and save by doing the bundle of all 3 classes or if you can’t make it to all 3 then no problem! Sign up anyways for the week you can come :)

⭐️Fun fact for the day! ⭐️Babies typically start pulling to stand with their arms first, developing upper body strength and engaging their lats and core (think pull up). As the months go on they shift to lower body dominant pull to stand (think pushing to stand through a lunge). You might be asking WHY DOES THIS MATTER? If we understand the typical body development patterns first then we know where to look and what to work on when development gets stalled!!

Our final month with this series!!! If you have a little one younger than 12 months scroll back in my feed to find the right month!
As always these are general time lines so don’t worry if your baby is not meeting all of these examples. But also trust your gut. You as the parent are the expert on your child so if you sense something is off don’t wait to reach out to a local provider!

We had a recent shift of chairs in our family and while we were in transition my son was in a booster seat on a regular chair. As a PT mom knowing how important a foot rest is I was very excited to change his sitting situation. Having a footrest honestly helped his mood and tolerance for sitting at our family meals. 👏🏻
I get that chairs can be pricey especially with multiple kiddos so here are some ideas to adjust what you might already have!
⭐️most high chairs for babies have a foot rest just make sure to adjust it properly
⭐️ for toddlers if they are on a booster with no foot support and it’s more of a long term situation try to get a cheap non slip stool and place it underneath their feet
⭐️try to get their full foot onto the plate/foot rest
⭐️ideally you want their hips at a 90 degree angle and their knees at a 90 degree angle (see picture)

We are almost done with our 1-12 month series! If you have a baby that is younger than 11 months scroll down on my home page to find your babies age!

Every age is a fun age but this one will for sure keep you on your toes! These little explorers are busy developing motor planning, perceptual skills, and body awareness. These pre-walking tasks are so important for progressing their balance, coordination, co-contraction and stability needed for walking.
