This is an infrequent, but important conversation I have with folks when talking distress tolerance and emotional regulation. Our brains very much get ahead of themselves at times and that can get very uncomfortable. Mindfulness in the moment can get us back on track and not allowing automatic negative thoughts from stealing positive experiences/thoughts/activities and replacing it with worry/future tripping.

It is ok to be empathetic toward folks you think "have it worse", but that doesn't mean that you also can't be carrying something quite heavy yourself.

Positive is not always positive. So many folks tell me that supports tell them "just don't feel that way" not understanding that people don't choose the struggle with mental health they may be experiencing. I'm a huge supporter of physical self care...it helps your emotional state!
