💖 A Message from Our Admissions Director: You Are Not Alone 💖

​As the Admissions Director here at Decatur Medical Lodge, I have spoken with countless families over the past few years. In those conversations, I've seen tears, heard voices filled with loss, and felt the weight of the guilt, fear, and utter helplessness that comes with caring for a loved one navigating Alzheimer’s, Dementia, or other cognitive impairments.

​The emotional toll of watching a loved one change is overwhelming. It’s a marathon, not a sprint, and you cannot pour from an empty cup.
​Please hear this: Taking care of yourself is not selfish, it is essential. Your loved one needs you to be supported and strong.

​If you are carrying this heavy load, please know that help and understanding are available. We want to share information about a valuable support group offered that is designed for families like yours.

We are feeling the Thanksgiving spirit thanks to the incredible kindness of Angie and Kim from Solaris Hospice! 🦃

​They stopped by to spread some serious Thanksgiving love for our residents and hardworking staff. This generous gesture made our day brighter and truly reflects the wonderful community partnership we share.

We are proud to support this year's community Christmas events and look forward to celebrating with everyone.

We’re getting close to some of our favorite events of the year!

Join us on December 2nd for the Christmas Tree Lighting sponsored by White Heat Boutique. The tree will be back at the courthouse and it all kicks off at 5pm with the tree lighting happening at dusk. We’ll have Santa’s Village, hot chocolate, bounces houses, performances, and Santa will be there for pictures!

Then on December 6th, we’ll come together for the Parade of Lights sponsored by Wise Honda Outdoor Power. The parade will begin at 6pm. We’ll be streaming the parade live on our page. Following the parade, shops on the square will be open for Moonlight Madness. We still have some spots available to be in the parade. Please contact the chamber for more info.
