A hauled in mare had unexpected 🐴🅣🅦🅘🅝🅢🐴 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧, and thankfully 𝐦𝐨𝐦 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐡 𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥…something that is truly uncommon and requires close veterinary care.

While this ended in the best possible way, twin pregnancies in mares are considered 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡-𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐤 because a mare’s uterus isn’t designed to safely support two foals, which can lead to 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙗𝙞𝙧𝙩𝙝, 𝙬𝙚𝙖𝙠 𝙛𝙤𝙖𝙡𝙨, 𝙡𝙤𝙨𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙜𝙣𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙮 𝙤𝙧 𝙡𝙤𝙨𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙚.
Twin pregnancies in mares are 𝐍𝐎𝐓 recommended or encouraged due to the risks to both the mare and foals.
