Decatur Morgan Hospital was honored to partner with Decatur High School- Decatur, Al for their first-ever Prom Promise Drunk Driving Simulation.

This impactful program helps students understand the real dangers of impaired and distracted driving and how quickly lives can change because of one decision. As part of the simulation, students used a portion of our Emergency Department as a set to realistically portray how crash victims are treated and cared for in the hospital.

Prom season is an exciting milestone, and our top priority is helping students celebrate safely. We are proud to support programs that promote awareness, responsible decision-making, and the safety of our community’s young drivers.

Thank you to Decatur High School and all of our first responders and community partners who made this important experience possible.

The Decatur Morgan Hospital Foundation joins our hospital family in honoring the life and service of Doris Boyd, a beloved volunteer whose compassion and dedication made a lasting impact on our community. We are grateful for the countless hours she gave in service to others and for the kindness she shared so freely.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Doris Boyd, a cherished volunteer at Decatur Morgan Hospital. Doris dedicated 16 years of her time to our hospital, contributing more than 2,000 hours of compassionate service. Her warm smile, gentle presence, and selfless nature touched the lives of countless patients, families, and staff.

Doris lived a life of quiet strength and unwavering kindness, and her love for her family was evident in all she did. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the entire Decatur Morgan community.

We are grateful for her years of service and the lasting impact she made on our hospital and the lives she touched. Her legacy of love, compassion, and generosity will continue to inspire all of us.

Services for Doris will be held at Roselawn Funeral Home today, April 9, 2026, with visitation from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. and the service following at 3:00 p.m.

We join our community in mourning the loss of Katie Harris, a cherished member of the Decatur Morgan Hospital Foundation family.

Katie served on our Board of Directors and later as a Trustee Emeritus, offering steadfast leadership, generosity, and a deep commitment to advancing healthcare in our community. Her passion for service and love for Decatur left a lasting impact on our Foundation and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

We are profoundly grateful for Katie’s support and friendship, and she will be dearly missed.
