Happy Spring everyone, Happy Nowruz and Happy Persian New Year.
May the new Spring and everyday filled with health, love, peace, success and more happiness for you and your family. with Love, Happy Nowruz, Nowruz Mobrak
Here is a brief information about ancient Nowruz to share with my dear non-persian friends.
Nowruz means "the new day", and celebration of nature's rebirth. Nowruz Holiday has been celebrated for thousands of years. It begins right at the beginning of Spring Equinox, and every year it changes. This year it is at 5:37:28 AM-EST on Saturday March 20th.
Haft-Seen, the 7 "S" is a decorative table setting, and it is one of the most beautiful traditions of Nowruz meaning seven natural items start with letter S in Persian alphabet; each item symbolizes a concept in Persian culture:
Sabzeh (sprouts) symbol of rebirth and renewal of nature.
Samanu (wheat pudding) represents affluence,
Senjed (dried silverberry) represents love and affection.
Serkeh (vinegar) symbolizes patience and age.
Seeb (apple) is a symbol of health and beauty.
Seer(garlic) is for good health and Somaq (crushed spice of berries) symbolizes the sunrise and the spice of life. Additional items that begin with the letter “s” that are commonly seen on the Sofreh are: Sekkeh (coin): symbolizes wealth and prosperity, Sonbol (hyacinth): a spring flower, Mahi (fish) symbolizes life, Eggs symbolizes fertility, Candles for e enlightenment, Shirini (sweets) spreading the sweetness.
Haft-Sin table will remain in houses until the last day of the new year’s holidays, which lasts 13 days.
Wishing you all a glorious Spring Season, full of Health, Happiness and Wonderful Time.
Love,
Heaven & Health spring
