FORM{yoga} is an encouraging, community centered yoga studio in downtown Decatur. We are a collection of dedicated yogis who love to learn and explore on our mat. We know you will find our light-hearted community warm and welcoming. Our hope is that as you find your place in our family you’ll share your experience with others and our community will continue to grow. At FORM{yoga} you will find a selection of dynamic teachers, each encouraged to lead class from their strengths while guiding you in a safe and non competitive atmosphere. When was the last time you felt truly at home in your body?

We all carry stories–some told to us, some written by experience, others that have simply lingered without rhyme or reason. Embodied Wisdom is an invitation to move with intention and listen to what your body has to say. Through intentional yoga poses and guided writing, you’ll explore how your lived experience shapes the way you move, breathe, and inhabit your body–not just on the mat, but in everyday life.

Unlike a yoga workshop focused solely on movement or a writing workshop centered only on words, this experience weaves the two together. Embodied Wisdom teaches how “opening your heart” can shift more than your posture, and how trusting your “gut feeling” may be the wisest act of self-knowing.

Expect to:

🌿 Explore narratives that no longer serve you and could use a good rewrite
🌿 Reconnect with your body’s natural intelligence and how to use it to express your story
🌿 Ground yourself in the knowledge of where your biology and your biography intersect

Bring a journal, pen, water and your curiosity. All bodies and stages of practice welcome. No yoga or writing experience needed.

This 75 minute offering is a casual, informative, and intimidation-free session where we’ll take a deep dive into a specific yoga asana (pose) to keep you learning and growing in your practice.

Parivrtta Ardha Chandrasana or Revolved Half Moon Pose is a challenging rotated standing pose that requires deep core integration, thoracic mobility, shoulder engagement & opening, as well as hip strength and mobility. Come explore and learn how to access this pose in your body. Bring your mat, water and questions!

Proper alignment, along with prop support and modifications will be offered. Resemblance postures, poses that are similar to the peak pose in engagement and alignment, will also be offered in order to help to invoke strength and grace on the mat. Expect some lecture, some demonstrations, and plenty of time to explore.

Join us for the best of both worlds, restorative yoga + Thai yoga bodywork. Restorative yoga allows for more time to let go and relax into a supported pose, while Thai bodywork incorporates assisted stretching and elements of Thai massage, enhancing the physical, mental, & emotional benefits through the power of touch. Ahhh.

The whole body will get love, but our focus will be on the back of the body. This will include, but not be limited to, work on the calves, hamstrings, hips, back, & neck. Portions of the session will be lying on your front, your side, and your back.

This 2 hour 15 minute offering is a practice of slowing down, of inviting in additional sensation, space, and relief by exploring longer holds in the restorative yoga poses with the added element of deeply affirming and grounding Thai bodywork techniques added in. Bring your yoga mat and dress in layers.

Note: This event always sells out! So to support more of you, we are opening two back-to-back sessions. Be sure to sign up for the time slot you prefer.
