Here’s something most people aren’t told:

✨ You have the right to decline any procedure. Any. Of. Them. ✨

Informed consent isn’t a checkbox.
It’s not a rushed signature on a form handed to you mid-contraction.

Real informed consent means:
• You understand the recommendation
• You know the risks of accepting it
• You know the risks of declining it
• You are free to choose — without pressure or coercion

If your provider is offended that you asked questions… that’s information.

“If you don’t know your options, you don’t have any.”

Every commitment I make comes with a silent disclaimer: I will be there… unless a baby is coming.

I have also developed what my family generously calls a superpower. 🦸‍♀️
I can fall asleep anywhere, wake up at 2am to a ringing phone 📞, assess a laboring mother clearly and completely, decide she has a few more hours… and be back asleep before my head hits the pillow again.

Most families are surprised to learn how much your iron needs increase during pregnancy. Here are 3 things your midwife wants you to know:
🩸 Your blood volume doubles — around 18–24 weeks, your hemoglobin naturally dips. We check it at 28 weeks to make sure it's not too low.
🥩 Food first — Red meat, dark leafy greens, lentils, and beans are powerful iron sources. Pair them with Vitamin C to maximize absorption.
