I can fall asleep anywhere, wake up at 2am to a ringing phone 📞, assess a laboring mother clearly and completely, decide she has a few more hours… and be back asleep before my head hits the pillow again.

At Sunshine Birth Company, we prepare you for confident newborn care. You'll know how to check temperature, recognize normal breathing patterns, and support successful breastfeeding. We schedule your first postpartum visit within 24-48 hours and remain available for questions.
That first day is about bonding and observation. Understanding infant behavior states helps you respond to your baby's cues. Having a rested support person means everyone gets the care they need.

Noticing early labor signs? Here's what to do (and NOT do):
Early signs you might notice:
✨ Baby dropped lower into your pelvis
✨ Increased pelvic pressure or cramping
✨ Mucus plug releasing (can be days before labor)
✨ Nesting urge kicks in hard
✨ Contractions that are irregular but noticeable
✨ Emotional shifts, tearful, inward, or restless
What TO do:
💜 Rest and conserve your energy
💜 Eat nourishing foods, drink plenty of water
💜 Continue your Spinning Babies exercises
💜 Practice your relaxation techniques
💜 Call your midwife when contractions are consistent
What NOT to do:
❌ Rush to "start" labor with interventions
❌ Stop eating or drinking
❌ Let fear take over
❌ Head to the hospital at the first twinge
