One of the most overlooked parts of preparing for parenthood is preparing your relationship.

In our work with new parents, we often hear couples say they didn’t expect how much their relationship would shift after baby arrived. Between sleep deprivation, new responsibilities, and the emotional intensity of caring for a newborn, even strong partnerships can feel stretched.

That’s why we believe relationship support is an important part of postpartum care.

In the final post of our Building the Village series, we’re sharing more about the work we do at Aspen Grove Counseling & Wellness and how therapy, workshops, and retreats can help couples stay connected through the transition into parenthood.

If you’re exploring postpartum support in Atlanta, we invite you to read the full blog and explore the providers featured throughout the series.

Parenthood was never meant to be navigated alone.

Where do you find postpartum support in Atlanta?

Many parents ask this question during pregnancy or in the early months after bringing home a baby. Between physical recovery, emotional changes, sleep deprivation, and relationship shifts, the transition into parenthood can feel overwhelming.

We created a guide to postpartum support in Atlanta to help families find the care and resources they need. The guide brings together trusted providers across the city, including therapists, postpartum doulas, pelvic health specialists, infant development experts, baby sleep coaches, and parenting communities.

Support during pregnancy and postpartum changes everything.

In our latest Building the Village blog, we’re featuring Sarah Shugar Doula, who provides full-spectrum, heart-centered care through pregnancy, birth, and the fourth trimester.

Sarah works closely with families to prepare for labor, understand their options, build confidence in their decision-making, and create a strong postpartum plan. Her approach is individualized, inclusive, and rooted in the belief that birth is both physical and deeply emotional.

Whether you’re planning a hospital birth, birth center delivery, or home birth, having steady, informed support can make all the difference.

Postpartum recovery deserves real support.

In our latest Building the Village blog, we’re featuring Megan Beach-Gomes of Kemper Pelvic Physio, a pelvic health physical therapist serving the Atlanta community.

From pregnancy preparation to postpartum recovery, Megan helps clients navigate pelvic pain, incontinence, surgical healing, and return to movement with confidence. Her whole-body approach goes far beyond “just Kegels” and centers education, empowerment, and evidence-based care.

Because delivering a baby is a major physical event. Recovery should be treated that way, too.

Loving someone who is struggling with addiction can be deeply painful and confusing. Many partners find themselves asking, “How do I love them without making things worse — or losing myself in the process?”

In our newest blog, Lindsay Dodgen, APC, explores how codependency forms, the difference between helping and enabling, and why boundaries are an act of care — not abandonment. She also shares how couples therapy in Atlanta can support partners in rebuilding connection without sacrificing themselves.

If addiction has impacted your relationship, you don’t have to navigate it alone.
