“Rich in history and rife with symbolism, the funeral ceremony helps us acknowledge the reality of the death, gives testimony to the life of the deceased, encourages the expression of grief in a way consistent with the culture’s values, provides support to mourners, allows for the embracing of faith and beliefs about life and death, and offers continuity and hope for the living.”

Hello everyone! It's been awhile since I posted some info. Hope everyone is hanging in there during these continuing crazy COVID times! I thought it best to review the most important thing you can do to help yourself. POWER OF ATTORNEY DOCUMENTS!
FINANCIAL POWER OF ATTORNEY (POA)
One of the most important documents you should have no matter your age, health, or lifestyle. It's super easy to do.
What is it? When you become ill or incapacitated-- either for the short- or long-term -- you'll need someone to pay your bills, and handle financial decisions and matters. The person you choose, called your "agent", and your wishes are specified by you in the Financial Power of Attorney document. It is recommended to choose at least two people to be your agent in the event one can not fulfill the duties. Your agent(s) should be someone you trust, understands your wishes, and agrees to be your agent. You may think you don't need this document if you have a spouse or close family to help you, but many companies will not talk to even a spouse or children without the Financial POA.
Some people decide to use a do-it-yourself online site to create the legal documents, make sure the site is state-specific and written/approved by attorneys. Many people feel more comfortable enlisting the help of an estate planning lawyer to help them decide what they want and need. Both are fairly quick and inexpensive. There are different types of financial POAs (limited, general, durable, tax purposes), talk to your legal expert about which type you need.
NOTE: the POA automatically ends at your death. If you want the same agent to handle your affairs after your death, you will need to name them as the executor on your Will.

Life is a beautiful gift, and life gives us beautiful gifts we treasure. Many of us have precious children and beloved pets who hold our hearts. A day may come when our time on earth and our responsibilities cease, but the world keeps spinning, other's lives continue to move on without us, except there is an empty space for those children and pets. Is there someone to pick up where you left off? Do they know what to do in the special ways you did things for those dependent on your loving care? What is second nature care to you, will be a guessing game for someone else stepping in. Both underage children and pets need you to pass this info on in writing, and to talk to those you have in mind to carry on your loving care. Imagine tomorrow you are not here, what would you wish for that to look like for your dependents?

This Doctor explains the importance of having discussions about end of life no matter your age or health. Hopefully the Corona Virus doesn't touch your life, take the advise though, and prepare for another day. I have lots of information to help you with the process. Be well, my friends.

Power of Attorney paperwork. Probably the most important thing to have done in preparation for unplanned events in your life. So, in the spirit of quarantine games, and to get you thinking about it, sound off who has your paperwork done!

Click the❤️ Love if you have it done and are satisfied.
Click the 👍Like if you have it done, but it's been a long time and needs revision.
Click the ☹️Sad if you have good intentions but still need to get it done.
Click the 😮Wow if you haven't really thought about it, or maybe don't know much about why you need it.

Feel free to ask questions, and discuss! You may have the same questions.

Hello friends! What strange times we are in. As I have been listening, watching, and learning about our current global situation with the Corona virus, I had an epiphany! Many of us have seen the fantastic graph illustrating the importance of flattening the curve of the virus infection, knowing it can not be prevented, but maybe some of the suffering can be slowed down and made more manageable.
So, stay with me here...In our normal day to day lives, with or without the virus,
I think the process of coming to the end of a person's life is just like the Virus curve. Typically, the curve of suffering spikes for the survivors when a loved one nears death and then dies, they begin the process of grief at the same time of having to talk to healthcare professionals, lawyers, bankers, funeral homes, insurance companies, probate, complete planning, answer unknown questions, find paperwork, etc, etc, etc..... BUT, with proper planning, organizing, and important conversations, the curve of emotional distress and physical exhaustion can be flattened considerably, spreading the decision making and planning out over a comfortable amount of time. The end of life curve will happen, there is no way to avoid it, but it can be made manageable.
If you happen to be asked to stay home in the next few weeks, I encourage you to think about this. If you need some help, give me a call. I'm happy to work with you, or point you in the right direction. I am available to work with clients by phone, Skype, email, or what ever else you prefer except face to face right now.
Stay healthy, stay kind, stay sane,💓 my friends!

Full Sirkel Solutions

Sheena Dix, creator and owner of Full Sirkel Solutions, enjoyed 11 years serving the elders of Decorah, Iowa and surrounding communities as a social worker. During that time, she observed a recurring pattern of struggle: Many people were not prepared to face and manage the obstacles of aging, accidents, illness, and loss of life. Multiple problems arise when preparation is not complete, ranging from trouble accessing vital social and financial information, to loved ones unsure what to do making medical decisions, to unspoken words that cause lasting pain and riffs amongst family. This was not just a problem for the elders she served, but also the loved ones and the other professionals that tried to assist them.

Sadly, loss finds us all-- but we have the ability to express what our wishes are, and who we want to help us during those events. We are able to give our loved ones the gift of not having to guess or worry over details during times of grief. We can give ourselves the gift of peace of mind.

Sheena believes with her professional guidance, clients can take comfort knowing a plan is in place, and loved ones can set aside feelings of guilt and uneasiness, leaving time to enjoy what is most important in your lives.

Sheena has an office in her home, but is excited to meet with you for a complimentary consultation wherever you feel comfortable. If Full Sirkel Solutions is a service you desire, Sheena can offer a variety of options and guidance as she works side by side with you as you develop your custom plan, all the while focusing on your wishes, collecting and organizing the information in an easy to reference binder, and communicating with loved ones and other professionals as needed.
