If you feel like you’re holding it all together… this is for you.

The one people rely on.
The one who shows up.
The one who keeps going.
There’s a certain strength in that.
And often, a pattern underneath it.

Unravel & Restore
On Monday, April 27, we’re welcoming Iowa author Erin McGuire-Henson to Sissa for a trauma-informed workshop + book signing inspired by her book The Art of Unraveling.

This isn’t about fixing yourself. It’s about noticing the patterns you’ve been living with… and beginning to loosen them.

In this workshop, you’ll explore:
• patterns like people-pleasing and over-responsibility
• simple practices for regulation and connection
• gentle somatic movement to help you ground and return to yourself

Unraveling isn’t falling apart.
It’s creating space for something more honest to come forward.

No experience needed.
Monday, April 27 6:30–8:00 PM $33

Books will be available after for signing.

If you know me, you know I have a bit of a hat obsession.

So when I find ones that actually mean something they make their way into the shop.

You might be wondering how hats fit into Sissa. But when you think about it, it makes perfect sense.

Seasonal living isn’t just ritual and practice it’s what we wear, how we move through the weather, and how we meet the elements.

These are “the most sustainable hats on earth” made by Rustek.

Their h**p hats are incredibly breathable, lightweight, and made for long summer days with cork bills and all natural materials.

Their organic waxed cotton hats are built for rain, wind, and everything in between.

And behind it all is a mission I deeply respect:
5% of every purchase goes directly to protecting public lands, because getting outside only matters if those places are still there.

Plastic free.
100% natural.
Made with intention.

Here’s to a hat for every season!
And a reminder to step outside and enjoy it.

I’m really excited to welcome Megan into the space.

She brings such a genuine, kind energy, you can feel it right away. She has over a decade of experience and has spent years traveling and learning from different places and teachers.

She’s currently in the area after living in Tulum, and we get to have her here for a bit, which feels really special.

She’ll be offering Himalayan Kundalini, a practice that weaves together breath, movement, mudra, and sound. Through rhythmic breathing, simple movement, and chanting, you’ll be guided to explore your own experience,at your own pace.

This is a space to arrive as you are. No experience needed.

Four years ago, on the first day of Spring, Gregg and I decided we were going to move here to Decorah.

I don’t think I fully understood what that decision would grow into at the time.

There’s something about this time of year… things begin again, sometimes in ways you don’t expect.

Standing in this space now, it feels like something that’s been unfolding ever since.

It was never just me.

There are so many hands that built Sissa.

Some of the most tangible pieces of this space were built from scratch by people who took the time to really listen to what I was trying to create, even when it was hard to explain.

Paul Cutting designed and built all of the display shelving, each one made to hold and move with the flow of the space. He also created the main counter, something we couldn’t just go out and buy. It’s beautiful, grounded, and intentionally built to be multi use so I can move it out of the way when the space shifts into classes and gatherings.

These aren’t things that exist off a shelf somewhere. They were imagined, talked through, and then brought into reality with care and skill.

And Spruce Roots Renovations - Gregg Kollasch - put in so much time behind the scenes to make sure everything came together the way it needed to. From flooring, to lighting, to paint.

There are so many small details you don’t always see, but Gregg’s mechanical mind is what pulled so much of this together.

I couldn’t have done this without them.

Four years later, and stepping into spring with so much gratitude.

I sat down today trying to think of the “right” thing to post about the shop.

My favorite items, new arrivals, the displays coming together… there’s so much I could share that I found myself a little overwhelmed.

Overwhelmed with gratitude.
Overwhelmed with a bit of exhaustion.
Overjoyed that this space is finally alive.

So maybe today isn’t about the perfect post.

Lately I’ve been leaning more and more into intuition, listening for what wants to come forward instead of trying to force it.

When I need a break from my own inward listening, one of the places I love to turn is the work of Kim Krans. She’s a true intuitive, a conduit, and an incredible artist.

Lately the elephant has been showing up for me again and again.

In the Wild Unknown Animal Spirit deck, the elephant represents wisdom, patience, and the remover of obstacles. It’s said to illuminate the path when things feel uncertain- think Ganesh energy.

That feels about right these days.

I have the Animal Spirit deck out at the shop if anyone feels like stopping in to pull a card.

Sometimes the message finds you when you slow down long enough to listen.

We’re open.

Today Sissa quietly opened its doors.

No grand launch.
Just a beginning.

In the spirit of the season, as winter slowly gives way to spring, Sissa is opening slowly too.

The space is still taking shape. Shelves are filling, displays are coming together, and new pieces are arriving a little at a time.

For now, my focus is on building the shop one step at a time… the pace my nervous system knows how to sustain.

What I’m most excited about, though, is the studio.

In the coming months we’ll begin introducing offerings in the space, including small gatherings and one-on-one sound sessions.

If you are a teacher, practitioner, or facilitator who feels aligned with the spirit of this space, I would love to connect.

In the meantime, stop in, explore the shelves, and watch the space grow with us.
