Join Larry Berkowitz, Ed.D. and Waheeda Saif, LMHC, on Wednesday, October 18th at 7 pm ET for a conversation on how to acknowledge and talk about the crises in Israel and Gaza with children and adults.

Tragedies that occur around the world can affect all of us, whether you hear about them on the news or belong to a community that is directly impacted. It's okay and expected that as adults we have our own reactions to these events. It's also okay to let children see our range of reactions, but it's important to also show them how to stay calm and talk about what makes us feel safe.

In this webinar, we'll address:

- Ways to start and have discussions in a safe and supportive manner
- Common reactions to traumatic events
- How to reduce potential risk and manage potential stress and trauma
- How to spot signs of struggle and seek support when needed

Our experts will also answer questions, offer advice, and share helpful resources.

After hearing the news of the mass murder of students and teachers in Texas, many of us will experience a range of reactions.

This is especially true for children. Their reactions may include:

- emotions (sadness, anger, shock, fear, etc.)
- changes in thoughts (difficulty concentrating, repetitive thoughts of the situation)
- physical reactions (feeling sick, headaches, not sleeping well, etc.)
- returning to older behaviors (bedwetting, needing physical closeness with parents, fighting more, etc.)

Traumatic events often lead people to feel they have lost control of their sense of safety. Here are resources on how to help children cope with the frightening news and their reactions:
