"✈️💙 Autism-Friendly Spaces at IAH 💙✈️
Airports can be loud, busy, and overwhelming—especially for autistic and neurodivergent travelers. At Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), new sensory rooms and staff training are helping make every journey feel safer and more predictable.
IAH now offers calming sensory rooms in Terminals A and D, with soft lighting, tactile tools, and quiet seating for travelers who need a break from the terminal. Staff across the airport are trained through the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program so they can recognize and support travelers with non-visible disabilities who may need extra time, clear communication, or just a little patience. Therapy dogs like Snickers also visit to bring comfort and connection on stressful travel days.

Image Description: On a soft cream background, a pink airplane flies diagonally across the center. To the left are travel icons: an open map with marked locations and a dotted route, and a pair of binoculars. In the upper right floats a green suitcase decorated with travel stickers like an airplane, sun, heart, and palm tree. Sparkle icons are scattered around for a whimsical feel. Bold, rounded black text reads “Autism Friendly Travel,” with a yellow label below that says “at IAH (Houston).”
