Polycystic O***y Syndrome (PCOS)
PCOS is a hormonal imbalance that affects many women in their reproductive years. It can cause irregular periods, weight changes, acne, excess hair growth, ovarian cysts, infertility, and insulin resistance.

Early diagnosis is key. Lifestyle changes, nutrition, and medical treatment can help regulate hormones, restore cycles, improve fertility, and reduce long-term risks like diabetes.
If you’re experiencing symptoms, speak with a healthcare provider—you don’t have to navigate this alone. 💛

Many African Americans naturally have a lower white blood cell (WBC) count, a normal variant known as Benign Ethnic Leukopenia (BEL). This genetically mediated finding is not associated with immune deficiency, increased infection risk, or underlying disease. Individuals with BEL typically remain completely asymptomatic, and the lower WBC/ANC represents their normal physiologic baseline.

Clinical concern arises only when low counts are accompanied by symptoms such as fever, recurrent infections, weight loss, or additional abnormal laboratory findings.

At MDPC Healthcare, we interpret laboratory results within the proper clinical and cultural context to ensure accurate, patient-centered care.

Trichomoniasis is caused by a parasite called Trichomonas va**nalis. It spreads through unprotected s*x, and symptoms can be mild or completely absent — which means it can be passed without knowing.

• Painful urination or in*******se

Men:
• Burning after urination
• Pe**le discharge
• Ge***al itching

• Persistent irritation and inflammation

💊 The Good News:
✔️ 100% treatable
✔️ Usually cleared with a single-dose antibiotic
✔️ Your partner(s) must be treated too
✔️ No s*x until everyone completes treatment

🛡️ Protect Yourself:
• Use condoms correctly
• Get regular STD screenings
• Don’t ignore unusual discharge or irritation

✨ Let’s Talk BV (Bacterial Vaginosis) ✨
BV is super common—and nothing to feel embarrassed about.
Here’s what to know:

🔹 What it is: An overgrowth of normal va**nal bacteria.
🔹 Common signs: Thin grayish discharge, fishy smell (esp. after s*x), mild irritation.
🔹 Causes: pH imbalance from things like douching, new partner, or scented soaps.
🔹 Care tips
• Skip douches & scented products
• Use breathable cotton underwear
• Finish antibiotics if prescribed

💡 When to call your provider
• If symptoms don’t improve
• If you’re pregnant and notice changes

Let’s normalize these conversations and protect va**nal health. 💜

Pelvic Inflammatory Disease is an infection of the female reproductive organs — the uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries. It usually happens when bacteria travel upward from the va**na or cervix.

💡 Common Causes:
• Untreated STIs (especially chlamydia & gonorrhea)
• Multiple s*xual partners
• Unprotected s*x
• Recently placed IUD (rare)
• Douching (pushes bacteria upward)
• Previous PID diagnosis (increases risk)

👀 Symptoms to Watch For:
• Lower pelvic or abdominal pain
• Abnormal discharge with odor
• Pain with s*x
• Fever or chills
• Painful urination
• Irregular bleeding or spotting

🩺 Why It Matters:
If left untreated, PID can lead to chronic pelvic pain, infertility, or ectopic pregnancy.

✔️ Treatment:
PID is treatable with antibiotics — but early treatment is key.
If you suspect symptoms, don’t wait. Contact your provider immediately.

Did your allergies, itching, swelling, or random flare-ups start after COVID?
You’re not alone — and it may be Post-COVID MCAS.

At MDPC Healthcare, we are seeing more patients with new or worsening symptoms after COVID infection, and many of them fit the pattern of Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS). Trust me we believe our patients! I’m an MCAS patient myself ❣️

🔬 What is Post-COVID MCAS?

MCAS happens when your body’s mast cells (immune cells that release histamine) become overly reactive.
Instead of responding only to true threats, they start firing from things that never used to bother you.

COVID can trigger lingering inflammation that keeps mast cells stuck in “high alert mode.”

✨ Common Symptoms We’re Seeing
• Itching or burning skin
• Eye or lip swelling
• Hives or flushing
• Headaches or migraines
• Bloating, nausea, diarrhea
• Fatigue
• Sensitivity to medications, fragrances, or foods

If your body suddenly feels “reactive,” this could be why.

🦠 Why COVID Triggers It

COVID causes a significant immune response.
For some patients, it leads to:

• Immune dysregulation
• Persistent inflammation
• Elevated histamine
• Over-activation of mast cells

These reactions can continue weeks to months even years after infection.

💛 You’re Not Imagining It

Post-COVID MCAS is real, and it can be confusing, uncomfortable, and disruptive.
The good news? It is manageable with the right plan.

🩺 How MDPC Healthcare Can Help

Our providers focus on calming inflammation and stabilizing the immune system using:

• H1 + H2 antihistamines
• Mast-cell stabilizing supplements
• Low-histamine nutritional guidance
• Gut health support
• Trigger identification
• Stress & sleep optimization
• Personalized treatment plans

If these modalities don’t work you are then referred to an allergy specialist.

💬 Herpes comes in two types — and both are common, manageable, and nothing to be ashamed of.

🦠 HSV-1 = usually oral (cold sores)
🦠 HSV-2 = usually ge***al (herpes sores)

But guess what?
👉 Both can affect the mouth OR ge***als
👉 Both can spread without symptoms
👉 Both are super common — not “dirty”

No cure, but treatable.
No shame, just facts.
Let’s stop the stigma. 💡
