"Washington DC [US], March 14 (HBTV): New research suggests that regular aerobic exercise can help keep the brain biologically younger. Adults who exercised regularly for a year showed brains that appeared nearly a year younger than those who did not change their habits."

"The stress hormone cortisol disrupts the brain’s navigational system. It impairs the function of the grid cells that play a crucial role in orientation. This has been verified by researchers from Ruhr University Bochum, Germany, in an imaging study with 40 individuals. The participants completed a virtual navigation experiment while their brain activity was recorded in an MRI scanner. If the subjects had received cortisol prior to the experiment, they performed more poorly and the exact activity pattern of the grid cells became indistinct. The results were published online in the journal PLOS Biology on March 12, 2026."

"If you’ve ever needed an MRI scan, you probably picture a long, narrow tube and the need to lie perfectly still while it clunks and hums around you. That’s the standard traditional MRI most people are familiar with. But there’s another option you may not have heard of yet: the upright MRI. While both serve the same purpose taking detailed internal images of your body the way they work and what they can reveal are very different."

"A novel quantitative PET- and MRI-based imaging approach can objectively identify a recently recognized type of dementia--limbic-predominant age-related TDP-43 encephalopathy, or LATE--that is often mistaken as Alzheimer's disease. This research, published online in The Journal of Nuclear Medicine, may enable earlier differentiation of LATE and Alzheimer's disease, or their co-existence in the clinic, guiding targeted diagnostic work-up and personalized care for dementia patients."

"Shoulder MRI scans have revealed rotator cuff abnormalities in 99% of adults aged 41-76, regardless of whether they report pain.

That near-universal finding has unsettled the routine assumption that what appears damaged on a scan is the source of everyday shoulder symptoms."

"Cervical cancer LNM prediction has traditionally relied on invasive biopsies or post-operative findings. However, a groundbreaking study published in Radiology: Imaging Cancer introduces a superior non-invasive method. This research utilizes time-dependent diffusion MRI (T-dMRI) and macromolecular proton fraction (MPF) mapping. Consequently, doctors can now identify lymph node metastasis (LNM) with unprecedented precision before starting treatment."
