๐ Why We Target Lip Closure in Myofunctional Therapy
Lips at rest should gently touch โ not strained, not open.
When lips stay closed, it sets off a chain of good things:
๐ Encourages nasal breathing (which filters, warms, and humidifies air)
๐ฆท Supports proper dental and jaw development
๐ค Promotes better sleep and oxygen flow
๐ฃ๏ธ Improves speech clarity and muscle coordination
๐ Helps with chewing, swallowing, and overall oral control
When lips are often open, the muscles around the mouth can become weak and unbalanced. This can affect feeding, speech, airway health, and even facial growth.
Through myofunctional therapy, we use fun, targeted exercises to strengthen and retrain these muscles โ helping kids (and adults!) maintain a natural, relaxed closed-lip rest posture.
๐ Built by a mom, grounded in clinical expertise.
