Walton County, Florida — North Walton Doctors Hospital is ending the 2025 year with new leadership at the helm.

North Walton Doctors Hospital announces Dr. Huy Nguyen has stepped down as Chief Executive Officer, which was effective Wednesday, November 19, 2025.

The Board of Directors has appointed Ben Burnham as the new CEO to guide the hospital through its next chapter of growth, development, and service to the community.

Since the hospital opened its doors in September 2024, Dr. Nguyen’s leadership has been instrumental in transforming North Walton Doctors Hospital from a new healthcare startup into a trusted and steadily expanding medical provider for the region.

Under his direction, the hospital established strong patient-care processes, recruited and developed a dedicated clinical and administrative team, and achieved consistently high patient satisfaction including strong Google review scores and personal-care accolades from the community.

“The opening of this hospital has been a journey, and many of you have been here from the beginning,” Dr. Nguyen shared in a message to staff. “I appreciate everyone for their work at our beloved hospital. We have achieved much since we opened especially with the quality and delivery of care. There is so much more to do as we continue to grow and expand the hospital.”

The Board of Directors expressed its gratitude to Dr. Nguyen for his vision, dedication, and years of service, and looks forward to his continued role as a physician-owner and leader within the hospital’s medical community.

Incoming CEO Ben Burnham brings more than 20 years of healthcare operations and clinical service experience, including leadership roles in hospitals of similar size and scope. He has served previously as a hospital CEO and is recognized for strengthening operational efficiency, expanding service lines, and elevating patient-care standards.

I'd like to put a shout out to Randy, the RN who took care of me in post-op observation overnight. The care was more than above standard expectations. "I had major back surgery at North Walton Doctors Hospital in DeFuniak Springs, Florida.

Doctor Aaron Creek was my surgeon, and he did a phenomenal job.

Before my surgery, I had blown out a Lumbar disc and was nearly totally disabled. I couldn’t walk at all and had excruciating pain at a 10 level. That night I was home, fully able to walk, and the only pain I have is from the incisions.

I cannot say enough about this outstanding surgeon. Dr. Creek truly cares for his patients and has excellent bedside manners.

He also has a superstar support team. My surgery took over three hours, and recovery a couple more. I wasn’t finished until midnight, but everyone on his surgical team and the tremendous hospital nurses and staff stayed late to ensure I was in good hands.

Dr. Creek is a miracle worker, and the North Walton Doctors Hospital workers are superheroes.

My team of Jennifer (front desk), Myra (head nurse), Lisa, Eva, Dana (respiratory therapist), A.J. (O.R. nurse and guardian angel), Jamie (anesthesiologist), and Austin Campbell were all exceptional.

I hope I didn’t leave anybody out. I would absolutely recommend Neck and Back Institute of Florida and North Walton Doctors Hospital to anyone with severe back or neck issues."
