🌟 Employee Spotlight: Jessica Delnagro 🌟

Jessica has been a cook at Aperion Care DeKalb since Aperion took over the building, and she has been part of the facility for six years. She loves caring for others and enjoys getting to know all the residents. Cooking has always been one of her passions, and she takes pride in creating meals and trying new dishes for everyone to enjoy.

At home, Jessica is a proud mom of five wonderful kids and always looks forward to spending time with them, which is a highlight of her days off. Shopping is her daughter’s favorite activity, so the two often shop until they drop (or until the budget says otherwise 😆). Jessica also has a little dog named Bongo, her playful troublemaker.

We’re so grateful for the delicious meals Jessica prepares and for her caring, passionate heart. Thank you for being part of our team! 💙🧡

Earlier this month, we stopped by the DeKalb Senior Center to share fruit, pastries and our gratitude with Club 55 attendees in the spirit of Thanksgiving. Congrats to a first-time visitor who took home our raffle basket!

This Veteran’s Day, our Compassus hospice team in DeKalb, IL, had the privilege of celebrating and honoring resident veterans at Aperion Care DeKalb.

Compassus Hospice Care Coordinator Regie Peterson, Hospice Care Coordinator Kevin McGee, Director of Clinical Services Katherine Scott, Area Director of Clinical Operations and Market Executive Ann Ovsak and Bereavement Coordinator Joseph Agnello presented veterans John Debates Jr., Larry Gowin, Stanley Croom and Robert Andrew with gifts of appreciation.

It was a heartfelt moment of recognition, gratitude and remembrance. We were proud to stand alongside our local veterans and thank them for their service.

🌟 Employee Spotlight: Emi Rangel 🌟

Emi has been part of the Aperion Care DeKalb team for three years since Aperion Care acquired the building, and she previously worked at the facility on and off for about ten years. She began as a CNA and grew into her current role in Medical Records and Central Supply.

Emi has a special connection with our residents and an impressive ability to engage with those who benefit from extra support, lifting their moods and making them feel seen. She goes above and beyond for residents and staff alike, always ready to help and always with a smile. In her own words, the most rewarding part of her job is spending time with residents and learning about their life stories!

Outside of work, Emi enjoys spending time with friends and family and hopes to get a cat to cuddle one day.

We love our veterans here at Aperion Care DeKalb! In partnership with the Compassus DeKalb team, we hosted a meaningful Veterans Day celebration, recognizing our veterans with hats, pins, and certificates, and enjoying cake together in their honor. ❤️🤍💙

🌟 Employee Spotlight: Vera Buchanan-Jones 🌟

Vera joined Aperion Care DeKalb in July 2025 as one of our part-time Receptionists. Since then, she’s become known for her exemplary attendance, reliability, attention to detail, and warm, welcoming smile.

Vera’s compassion and patience with our residents are truly special. She takes time to engage in conversation, even with those who are harder to understand. Recently, she spent time chatting with one of our residents, listening closely and encouraging him as he spoke. Her kindness and patience gave him the confidence to share more than usual, turning a simple exchange into a beautiful moment of connection.

Always willing to lend a hand, Vera’s positive attitude and teamwork stand out. She often steps up to cover extra shifts and is described by her coworkers as kind, dependable, and always ready to help. In her own words, the most rewarding part of her job is “seeing people and bringing kindness to their day.”

Outside of work, Vera enjoys reading, gardening, singing, cooking, and watching anything that makes her laugh. She’s married with three children—her favorite people—and her great-nephew is “the highlight of my life.” As she puts it, “I love Jesus, coffee, plants, and chocolate.”
