Really enjoying this podcast on Applied Neurology.

"I would take breaks between clients to stretch, and stretch, and stretch. I was repetitively stretching my left hamstring over and over again when I felt a twinge that went down my leg, up to my glutes, and crossed my sacrum. I hit the deck and fell to my knees. What just happened? I lost control of my leg and fell on the ground. What happened? Obviously, I overstretched. I overstretched my sciatic nerve because the tension feeling in my hamstring was neural tension. I was trying to address that with repetitive bouts of stretching, which gave me temporary relief for maybe 30 seconds or two minutes. Then the relief would dissipate. It was a wake-up call that I couldn’t solve everything with stretching. Many years later, I continued to learn why I couldn’t just address this issue with stretching. It comes down to your brain. Your brain is actually in control of your muscles and tissues. Muscle tone is mediated by brain function."
