What is the difference between systolic & diastolic blood pressure?

🔴 Top Number = Systolic

This measures the pressure in your arteries when your heart beats and pushes blood out.
Think: “Pressure when the heart squeezes.”

🔵 Bottom Number = Diastolic

This measures the pressure in your arteries when your heart rests between beats.
Think: “Pressure when the heart relaxes.”

Both numbers matter! Even if only one is high, it can increase your risk of heart disease and stroke. Check your blood pressure at the same time each day and bring your readings to our pharmacy team to review with you.

Even when medications are taken as directed, certain patients may experience unwanted/potentially harmful side effects. Ranging from headache, dizziness, stomachache, etc. to fever or rapid heart rate for example. Call your Pharmacist and they'll advise you on the proper steps you need to take if side effects occur.
