Rio Grande Hospital is part of Valley Citizens' Foundation for Healthcare, Inc., a nonprofit. The tradition of hospital care at Del Norte started when St. St.

Rio Grande Hospital is part of Valley Citizens’ Foundation for Healthcare, Inc., a community non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide health care to the Western San Luis Valley. Joseph’s Hospital opened in 1907. Joseph’s closed its doors in 1993. In 1996, Rio Grande Hospital at Del Norte re-opened at the old St. Joseph Hospital Building. The Rio Grande Hospital moved to its present location on August 11, 2004. The originally ten-million-dollar facility has grown since its opening.

💗 Thank You for Joining Us! 💗

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Mental Wellness Awareness Month presentation at the RGH Wellness Center. It was wonderful to come together as a community to focus on mental wellness and everyday habits that support brain health.

A special thank you to Dr. Grotefend for sharing helpful insights on caring for our mental well-being. Guests also enjoyed brain-supporting refreshments chosen to nourish the mind and body—avocado toast squares with healthy fats and whole grains to support focus and steady energy, smoked salmon cucumber bites rich in omega-3s and protein to support memory and mood, and creamy coconut mango chia pudding providing fiber, antioxidants, and healthy fats to support gut health and emotional balance. 🥑🐟🥭

We appreciate everyone who attended and look forward to offering more wellness events that support a healthier, stronger community—one small habit at a time. 💗

Join us as Cathy Di Maggio introduces ear acupuncture (also known as auricular acupuncture), a gentle and non-invasive holistic therapy that uses specific points on the outer ear to support healing and balance in the body.

The ear is viewed as a map of the entire body. By stimulating certain points using tiny needles, ear seeds, or gentle pressure, practitioners may help influence the brain and nervous system—supporting overall wellness.

Last Friday, we had the joy of celebrating our incredible RGH team at our Winter Wonderland employee appreciation event—and our hearts are still full.

This evening was created with one simple intention: to show our staff how deeply they are valued. We wanted to bring something special directly to them—fun, creativity, connection, and access to amazing local vendors—all in one place, because caring for our team means making things easy, meaningful, and joyful.
