Whole grains need to be prepared a certain way for your body to get the most nourishment from them. 🌾
Most people don’t realize that whole grains- and even nuts, seeds, and legumes-naturally contain compounds like phytic acid and lectins. These can make them harder to digest and can reduce mineral absorption if the grains aren’t prepared properly.
This doesn’t mean you should avoid them at all! These food are incredibly nutritious- you just want to prep them the traditional way. 💛

These time-honored methods help break down those natural compounds and activate enzymes that make grains easier to digest and more nourishing.
And honestly…long-fermented sourdough is one of my favorite traditions. There’s nothing quite like a warm, homemade loaf straight from the oven- and sharing it with your kids and family makes it even better! 💕
