Mary’s Garden is beginning to settle and take root, and with every step forward, it is becoming a beautiful and peaceful space to honor the life and legacy of Mary Gusky.
Now we are ready for some of the most meaningful pieces of the garden — the elements that will make this space a place of rest, reflection, and comfort for all who visit.
We are currently seeking donations for:
Two weather-proof benches – a place for patients and families to sit and rest
A small library – to share books, inspiration, and quiet moments
Angel statue – a symbol of peace, faith, and Mary’s spirit
We are still working toward our fundraising goal, and every donation brings us closer to completing Mary’s Garden in time for our ribbon cutting in June.
Please scan the QR code to donate and be part of this lasting tribute.
If you would prefer to donate an item directly or help us source one, we would love to hear from you as well.
Together, we are creating a space filled with love, peace, and purpose — just as Mary would have wanted.

🌿 Mary’s Garden – Growing Because of You 🌿
What an incredible few days at The Good Samaritan Clinic. With so many hands and so much heart, Mary’s Garden is truly coming to life. We’ve had volunteers digging, planting, hauling, and working side by side — and it shows in every inch of this space.
A heartfelt thank you to the amazing people who are making this possible:
✨ Quin Booth – for securing the dirt, prepping the ground, laying pavers, and showing up ready to work
✨ Jenna Workman, owner of Fairy Tale Gardens – for taking lead on this project and coordinating supplies and timelines
✨ The Starling Family & Andrew Arbeene – for supplying and delivering the coonties and the beautiful bottlebrush tree
✨ Jennifer Condo – for her role in planning the layout of the garden and for bringing out the incredible women-power of The Garden Club of DeLand
✨ The Garden Club of DeLand – for showing up in strong numbers and getting their hands in the dirt
✨ Becky Morey, Jace & friend, and Zoe Paiva – for spending their morning working hard to move this project forward
✨ Ms. Fran O’Neill – for the meaningful donation of the flag
This garden is being built with love, generosity, and community — just as Mary Gusky lived her life.
And we’re only just beginning.
With our ribbon cutting planned for the end of June, these plants now have time to take root, the pavers to settle, and for us to add benches and the final touches that will make this space truly special.
We are about halfway to our fundraising goal — and we need your help to finish what we’ve started.
Please scan the QR code to donate and be part of Mary’s Garden.
Every gift helps us continue building a place of peace, reflection, and beauty for all who visit the clinic.
Together, we are creating something lasting… something meaningful… something Mary would have loved.

Exciting progress today at The Good Samaritan Clinic! The dirt has officially been delivered, and Mary’s Garden is starting to take shape. It’s amazing to see this beautiful tribute to Mary Gusky beginning to come to life.
Every step brings us closer to creating a peaceful space filled with flowers, benches, and a walkway where patients, volunteers, and visitors can pause and reflect.
Now it’s time for the next step — laying the pavers — and we could use a few more helping hands!
🧱 Volunteers Needed

The Good Samaritan Clinic Story
About ten years ago (2006) DeLand urgently needed a place to serve people who didn’t have medical insurance. Father Tom Connery of St. Peter Church, Dr. Lyle Wadsworth and other medical personnel made that need their burden.
Good Samaritan Clinic was born on W. New York Ave in a small house, purely by faith. God began to provide both equipment and qualified people. “God’s Clinic” opened its door on October 22, 2007. The response far exceeded expectations—many patients and many volunteers.
After the dental aspect opened in 2009, the need for a much larger facility was obvious. Again God supplied that urgent need, and the “Miracle on Plymouth Avenue” came into being. This beautiful building now houses four fully-equipped medical examination rooms, four equally equipped dental operatories, a triage area, a spacious waiting room, administrative offices and a prayer chapel. Just recently a generous donor added a smaller building which serves yet other needs such as pharmacy and mental health consultations.
Good Samaritan Clinic is a faith-based free clinic so no patient is ever charged. All of the staff – doctors, nurses, dentists, etc. – all of us are volunteers. We strive to treat our patients as the whole person—body, soul and spirit.
We care for you as an individual and we want to be channels of God’s love to each of you who come through our door. To show your gratitude for the care you receive here, you could attend the church of your choice to thank God because this is “God’s Clinic.”
