FOOD AND HOW, WHEN, AND WHERE YOU EAT IS IMPORTANT

Part One

To assist the Spleen and Stomach meridians, the following guidelines are practiced in Asia.

Eat mostly cooked foods.
Eat easily digested foods, not fried foods.
Eat vegetables, fruits, and eggs.
Avoid grains as much as possible, except rice and oatmeal.
Quinoa is a great substitute for grains.
Eat small amounts of red meat each week, and daily have chicken, fish, or turkey.
Avoid cold foods and limit raw foods.

If you would like support with digestion and balance during perimenopause or menopause, call Crystal to schedule an acupuncture treatment at 386 734 4126.

SUNLIGHT THERAPY

Li Shi Zhen of the Ming Dynasty wrote during the years 1368 to 1644. In his medical texts, he wrote about Tai Yang, which means supreme Yang. Tai Yang is also the name for the sun, which is considered true fire.

It is written that without fire, heaven cannot engender things, and people are not able to live. The Yang Qi in the body is a moving, driving force, and it needs to be replenished daily.

In Florida, we often get sun just by walking to our cars and into buildings, but this may not be enough. Try to get about 15 minutes of sunlight before 10 AM or after 4 PM. This can help the pineal gland turn off and on properly, which may improve sleep.

During very rainy or dreary days, keep the lights on indoors. This helps the brain stay awake and active.

If you would like support balancing your energy naturally, call Crystal or call the office to schedule an acupuncture treatment at 386 734 4126.

ACUPUNCTURE

These are things that you can do by yourself.

To relieve feelings of heat, take your second finger and press it into the palm of your hand. This is called Acupuncture Point Pericardium 8. Press it for about one minute.

Number two. Bend your arm with the palm facing down. At the elbow crease, apply pressure with your other thumb for one minute.

Number three. Hold your hand face up and trace your second finger down to your wrist. Take the fingers from your other hand and gently press on the wrist crease for one minute.

Number four. Rub right between your eyebrows for one minute.

Number five. Rub your ear and rub the ear lobe. Rub the top part of the ear, rub inside the ear, and rub outside the ear where it meets your face.

Number six. Rub the top of your head with all your fingers for about one minute. This is referred to as “control, alt, delete.” See all your problems being erased.

If you would like deeper support or a personalized treatment, call Crystal or call the office to schedule an acupuncture treatment at 386 734 4126.
