Shoveling is basically a posterior chain workout:
glutes + hamstrings + back + core doing the heavy lifting.

When that “backside strength” is missing, winter weather turns into:
• low back tweaks
• sore shoulders/neck

Here are the 3 non-negotiables:
1. Protein first
Protein protects muscle while you lose fat.
Aim for 25–40g per meal (most people under-eat it).
2. Strength training
This tells your body: “Keep muscle.”
Without it, your body has no reason to hold onto lean mass.
3. Consistency > perfection
A moderate plan you can repeat beats extreme plans you can’t maintain.

Why muscle matters for fat loss

Let me say it plain:

If you want to lose FAT (not just weight), you need muscle.

Muscle is metabolically active tissue.
More muscle = higher calorie burn, better strength, better shape, better long-term results.

When you lose weight the “quick way,” you often lose:
• water
• muscle
• and some fat

And when muscle drops, your BMR often drops too… which makes maintenance harder later.

That’s why we train for strength while we lose fat.

BMR + movement + workouts + digestion = total daily burn (TDEE).

Here’s why this matters:
If you only look at “eat less,” you might create a deficit… but if it’s too aggressive, your body adapts:
• less energy
• more hunger
• less movement without noticing
• workouts feel harder

MY PERSONAL BIO:

When I turned 30 years old I struggled with my weight. I had to overcame many personal obstacles which helped me realize the importance of exercise and healthy eating. During that time, and ever since, I am passionate about helping others obtain a healthy lifestyle.

I feel that by motivating parents and helping them to change their health habits that their children will live a happy and healthy lifestyle. When training I apply behavioral, motivational, and exercise strategies. I work with healthy individuals and those with medically controlled disease in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle. I tailor to the needs and goals of my clients, motivating and pushing them to leave their exercise comfort zone in order to achieve optimal results.
