This Women’s Self-Defense class is designed to help empower women to feel more confident and in control of themselves when put in uncomfortable situations. Rachel has graciously agreed to offer this seminar for the Yoga Hohm community and beyond.

No woman wants to find herself alone, threatened and defenseless however not being prepared for this situation can be devastating. While martial arts training is not a silver bullet, it can better prepare you to think more clearly when threatened, make wiser decisions and if all else fail, provides you with the skills to physically use against an attacker.

Join our 2-hour Women’s Self-Defense Seminar designed to teach practical self-defense skills based on jiu-jitsu. Seminar includes:
• Body weight and mobility-based warm-ups designed to build strength and athleticism
• Learning and Drilling techniques to control & attack another person from standing and ground positions without the use of blunt striking
• Instruction by Rachel Llanas, owner of Cornerstone BJJ and jiu-jitsu brown belt

This seminar will take place at Cornerstone Jiu Jitsu (formerly Vteneration)

It is with it equal doses sadness and gratitude that I share this. Our tiny Susan was freed from her battle with COPD July 25.
Susan ‘s determination and zest for life was contagious. She loved yoga and she loved her yoga community. I visited with her a few times after she could no longer attend class and she always talked about how much she missed her yoga community.
She left a powerful mark on the Yoga Hohm community, as well as myself personally.

From her son:
Our mother, Susan Lathrum, lost her battle with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and died on July 25th. The hospice nurse and hospice care-worker who were in her home at the time said that she died very peacefully. She was lucky enough to be surrounded by family the previous weekend and everyone was able to have a private conversation with her if they wished.
She wished to be cremated and there will not be a funeral. However, there will be a Celebration of Life in the Milwaukee area, which is being organized and likely to happen in September or October.
