It’s that time of year where the stress and anxiety starts to creep in. Whether it’s time, money, or seasonal depression, our body feels it.
Here’s what I want you to do:
Take a deep breath in through your nose. As you deeply, but slowly exhale through your mouth, unclench your jaw. Relax your face. Take another deep inhale and on this next exhale, drop your shoulders and relax. With your eyes closed, spend a few minutes (or what you can), just breathing. In through your nose, out through your mouth. Just focus on the rise and fall of your chest and just breathe.
We walk around in such a constant state of tightness that we don’t notice we’re doing it anymore. Especially in our upper body and face.
This is a good exercise to do anytime, but especially when things are getting more stressful or we just need to decompress. You’ll notice your heart rate and blood pressure lower and you’ll notice an overall sense of well-being. The biggest take away? You’ll feel less stressed in that moment, leading you to reevaluate and refocus.
