November is Hospice and Palliative Care Month. While both hospice and palliative care focus on comfort and improving quality of life, they serve patients at different stages. Palliative care can be provided at any time during a serious illness, with or without curative treatment. Hospice care, on the other hand, is offered when a person is no longer seeking curative treatment and is typically in the final six months of life. "I have a beautiful independent living apartment on a beautiful campus with security and great services. Lisha has been serving residents at Ohio Living Rockynol for 41 years. She has worked in multiple positions in the culinary department and is currently a cook.

“A friend encouraged me to put my application in at Rockynol,” said Lisha. “I’ve been a cook for many years now.”

Lisha says the residents, supervisors and team members bring her joy and fulfillment. “I enjoy meeting new people and residents and learning about their families. I enjoy laughing with them, serving them food and seeing my co-workers.”

She also enjoys the benefits of the job. “I like to make money and make the residents laugh,” said Lisha. “I appreciate the job I get to do for them every day.”

Lisa’s advice for someone starting in her position: “be patient and learn all you can to do your best.”
