Helen K. Murphy

Helen K. Murphy, 79, passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Albany Medical Center Hospital, surrounded by her loving family after a battle with cancer.

She was born on March 8, 1946, in Albany, the daughter of the late Ralph E. and Blanche (Finch) Kulzer. Helen was a proud graduate of Our Lady Of Angels Grade School, Clayton A. Bouton Junior Senior High School, and the Albany Medical Center School of Nursing. She furthered her education by earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Russell Sage College.

Helen’s professional journey began as a registered nurse at Albany Medical Center, where she served from 1967 until 1989. Her commitment to patient care and nursing excellence paved the way for her to become the owner of Northeast Nursing Staff Service LLC, which she operated from 1990 to 2015. Throughout her career, Helen was admired not only for her professional skills but also for her empathy and compassion, which made a lasting impact on those she cared for.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Helen was deeply involved in her community. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Peter Gansevoort Chapter, and served as an Eucharistic minister at St. Mary’s Church. Her volunteer work with the Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless allowed her to give back while connecting with those in need.

Helen's passions extended well beyond her professional life. She loved knitting, making hats for cancer patients, was an avid reader and enjoyed playing Scrabble, often engaging in friendly competition with her loved ones. She especially relished her lifetime Scrabble rivalry with her brother Dan. Helen had a deep love for music, appreciating a wide range of genres from Irish tunes to Janis Joplin. She found joy in movies, with favorites such as "Dirty Dancing" and "The Big Chill" which reflected her vibrant spirit. Gardening and expressing her creativity through various artistic endeavors were also among her cherished hobbies. She spent many wonderful hours painting with her granddaughter Rosemary.

She loved gathering her family and friends at the Berlin Mountains Fish & Game Club. The Kulzer Family Christmas Party was a highlight of every holiday season – she enjoyed time with her beloved cousins and sharing her traditional Leberklasse. She will always be remembered as the reigning Punkintown Princess.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Brian M. Murphy; her sons Kyran and Kevin (Audrey); her daughter Meaghan (Nicholas Faso); and her beloved grandchildren Joseph Kevin Murphy, Rosemary Jane Faso, and Magdalena Grace Faso. Helen is also survived by her brothers Daniel and Gregory Kulzer.

Peter T. Rossi

Peter Rossi, beloved son of Dominick and Jennie Rossi, devoted husband, father, nephew, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 16th.

Peter was the husband of Margaret, with whom he shared 50 years of marriage. Their love story began during a blackout, when what started as a conversation for a few hours turned into a lifetime together. Their partnership was built on love, loyalty, and conversation, and it became the foundation of a close and devoted family.

The first of many strong women in his life was his mother, Jennie, followed by his Aunt Fran, who had a special, guiding presence in his life.He was the loving father of Kristin (Mike) and Peter (Virena), the proud “Bumpa” to Meaghan, Ryan, and Alex, a cherished brother to Dina and Dom, brother in law to Gail Marie. and a caring uncle to his nieces and nephews — Rebecca, Jennifer, Steven, Matthew, Kate, and Sara — always ready with a story, or a lesson.

Peter spent many years as an executive with GE, a career that allowed him to move his family along the East Coast, living in Georgia, Maryland, and finally settling in Albany, New York. Wherever life brought them, Peter’s focus was always on providing for and protecting his family.

He will be remembered most for his storytelling. Around the dinner table, written carefully in his books, or from behind the camera, his stories wove together generations. A loyal fan of the New York Giants and a long-suffering supporter of the New York Mets, he faithfully shared both the glories and the agonies of defeat with family through phone calls and texts. He shared tales of his family that made us laugh, sometimes made us cry, but always brought us closer together. Through his words, images, and actions, he reminded us where we came from and the strength of the family name.

Peter’s steady presence, deep love for his wife, pride in his children and grandchildren, and gift for storytelling will be missed beyond words. There is comfort in knowing he has now reunited with mom. We can only imagine he’s already sharing a story, keeping score, and watching over us all.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Pl., Delmar on Monday, February 23rd at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Daughters of Sarah Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Ann S. Jacobs

Ann Jacobs, age 98, of Delmar, NY, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 2, 2026.

Ann was born May 1, 1927, in Morton Grove, IL, a suburb of Chicago, to Charles and Anna Schmitt. She lived there with her family until she attended Beloit College in Beloit, WI where she earned a BA degree in Psychology in 1949. She also attended Gregg Business College in Chicago as well as the Northwestern School of Journalism.

At Beloit, Ann was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority and the synchronized swimming team. Swimming was a lifelong joy for Ann; from spending time with her family “up at the Lake” at Browns Lake in Burlington, WI, to synchronized swimming in college, and later, swimming with her grandkids.

She spoke fondly of one summer during college when she was able to use her extensive knowledge of the water as a Girl Scout Counselor in Vermont. Ann was a Unit Leader and Assistant Waterfront Director, sharing her talents by teaching swimming, lifesaving, water ballet, mountain climbing, outdoor cooking, and canoeing; an adventure she and her friends reminisced about for many years.

After college, Ann worked as a secretary for several years. It was while working as a secretary for Jesse Jacobs that she was introduced to her future husband, Jesse’s nephew, Dr. Richard L. Jacobs. She and Rich were married in 1954 and they celebrated 65 wonderful years together before his passing in 2019. In 1975, Ann and Richard moved their family to Delmar, NY, following Rich’s promotion to Chief of Orthopedic Surgery at Albany Medical Center.

In Delmar, Ann pursued many interests, including quilting, weaving, and archaeology.

An avid sewer, she enjoyed many years with the QUILT group, where she created beautiful quilts, some of which won ribbons in QUILT shows. A number of her quilts were donated to charities and the rest will remain cherished heirlooms.

In addition to sewing, Ann also was a talented weaver. She owned several large floor looms and typically had several projects going on at once. A few of these projects won ribbons as well. When weaving became too difficult, she donated her looms to a family who lost their looms in the Schoharie Creek flood.

Ann was always a “cat person.” She grew up with cats as pets, a love that continued into her adult life as well. Throughout her life, Ann can be remembered for being at her sewing machine, loom, or working on a quilt in her lap, along with many cats “supervising” her as she stitched.

Archaeology was another one of Ann’s beloved hobbies. She was heavily involved in the Bethlehem Archaeology Group (BAG) where she wrote research papers on nails and Dutch homes. Her papers on these topics became key resources for her fellow archaeologists. For several years she was the Director of the lab. She loved digging up artifacts from many different sites around Bethlehem, then identifying and labeling them, remarking “The digging hooks you; you never know what you’ll find.”

Ann was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Richard L. Jacobs in 2019. She is survived by her three children: Greg of Delmar, NY, Hugh (Barb) of Glenmont, NY, and Leanne (Tim) of Delmar, NY; and five beloved grandchildren: Apryl, Tess, Calla, Katherine, and Harrison.

As per Ann’s wishes, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, and in honor of her love of cats, she asked that donations be made to Whiskers Animal Benevolent League, PO BOX 11190, Albany, NY 12211.
