Charlene L. Breedon

Charlene L. Breedon, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, gracefully departed this world on November 1, 2025, at her home in Feura Bush, New York. Born on March 12, 1953, in Albany, New York, Charlene touched the lives of many with her warm heart and selfless spirit.

For 54 beautiful years, she shared her life with her devoted husband, Robert Breedon. Together, they nurtured a loving family that included their son, Jeffrey (Renee) Breedon of Charlton, New York, and their daughter, Christine (Christopher) Mullen of Selkirk, New York. Charlene was a proud grandmother to her grandsons, Nathan, Logan, and Hunter, and her granddaughters, Amber and Paige. Her legacy of love continues through them, as they carry forward the joy and warmth she instilled in their lives.

Charlene’s personality was a beacon of light; she was the person who always put everyone else before herself. Her love for cooking and baking was not just a hobby, but a way to show her family how much she cared, making sure that everyone always had their favorites. Her kitchen was often filled with laughter, the aroma of her delicious creations, and the delight of her family gathered around the table.

Those close to her knew about her love for the beach and ocean. Whether it was a stroll along the shore or simply basking in the sun, she found peace and happiness by the water, where the waves mirrored her loving spirit.

Charlene is also survived by her beloved siblings: Marilynn (Chris) Orr of Selkirk, NY, Raymond Lee Jr. of Feura Bush, NY, Michael (Cathy) Lee of Feura Bush, NY, and Mary Lee of Feura Bush, NY. She will be remembered fondly by her sister-in-law Nancy Rhodes of Guilderland, New York, her brother-in-law Rick Lichtenhan of Vancouver, Washington, and her sister-in-law Sally Anderson of Naples, Florida. Charlene was a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews, whose lives she enriched with her endless love and kindness.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Raymond and Amelia Lee, and her sister, Catherine Lee, who are lovingly remembered as part of her enduring legacy.

Charlene's family invites all who knew and loved her to celebrate her life at the visitation taking place on Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, at Applebee Funeral Home, located at 403 Kenwood Ave, Delmar, New York.

Though she may be gone from our sight, Charlene L. Breedon's spirit will forever be woven into the lives she touched with her kindness and love. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, compassion, and unwavering devotion, reminding us all of the importance of family and the simple joys of life.

In honor of Charlene's love of animals, in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave. Menands, NY 12204 www.mohawkhumane.org.

Joseph S. Moniz

Joseph Souza Moniz
(Joe), 97, of Delmar passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at
Albany Medical Center. The family is planning for a private ceremony and burial
in Bethlehem Cemetery, near his beloved wife Agnes (Aggie).

Born in East Providence, RI on March 28, 1928, Joe was the son of the late Antonio and Maria Moniz. His parents both emigrated to the United States in the early 20th century from São Miguel Island in
the Azores, which is an autonomous region of Portugal.

Joe served in the
United States Army, working in Newfoundland as a radio mechanic, between March
1946 and March 1949. He received a good conduct medal and the World War II
Victory Medal for his service.

Joe married Aggie
Castanho in 1951. They had 67 wonderful years together at the time of her
passing in 2018. They had three children together, who survive them both. Sons
Joseph Moniz, Jr. (Cynthia Cajobe) and
Mitchell A. Moniz; and daughter, Karen A. Wilson (Jeffrey). Joe is also
survived by grandson, Bryan J. Wilson, and his son Hayden; and granddaughter
Jennifer R. Wilson-Koch (Ted), and their daughter Kahlia.

After his discharge
from the Army, Joe worked as a forklift
operator for Rumford Chemical Works in East Providence, Rhode Island, which, at
the time, was one of the primary producers of baking powder in the United States.
After leaving Rumford, Joe worked for years as a wedding photographer. Because
of this work, Joe refused all pasta dishes until his dying day.

Soon after Amtrak's
founding in 1971, Joe took a job as a carman, maintaining all parts of Amtrak
passenger coaches. This was physically demanding work, but Joe was a powerful
man. In 1975 Amtrak moved the Moniz family from East Providence, Rhode Island to
Delmar, New York. This was a significant event in the life of the family, since
they moved from an urban Portuguese enclave, to an affluent suburb. They had
years of happiness at their home on Elsmere Avenue, and their children had
opportunities that they would not have had, if they'd stayed in Rhode Island.

Joe and Aggie made a
bold decision to move their family to New York, and Joe was an incredibly
strong man who always put his family first. In lieu of flowers contributions
may be made to the Northeast Regional Food Bank, 965 Albany Shaker Rd, Latham,
NY 12110.

Margery E. Hoffman

Margery E. Hoffman, 92, passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 23, 2025. At the time of her death, she was being lovingly cared for at The Wells House in Johnstown, New York.Margery was born in Albany, New York, on May 9th, 1933, to George Whitbeck and Helen Read Whitbeck. Her family later moved to Delmar, where she graduated from Bethlehem Central High School. She later graduated from New York State College for Teachers. In 1955, Margery married the love of her life and her best friend, Alan C. Hoffman. They moved to Michigan so that Alan could complete his degree from Michigan State University. While there, they had their first child, Arden. After graduation, they moved back to New York State, and two more children arrived: Alice and Christopher.Margery was always available to others, with her winning, welcoming smile and good advice. No matter where she lived, people always remarked on her smile! She made people feel as though they were the only person on earth. This was her superpower! Jesus was her guiding light, and her huge study Bible was the source of her wisdom. A common memory among the grandchildren is coming down from a good night’s sleep at Bamma and Papa’s and seeing their Bamma sitting in the breakfast nook with her trusty bible. That Bible is currently underlined and highlighted more than it is not! We could not keep up with her social nature! She loved playing rummy with her longtime caregiver, Christine, and with Dean and with her son, Chris. She wasn’t a good loser, so she won a lot. She always loved a good puzzle friend like Alice or Dean. She was known in our family as “The Socially Insatiable Senior Citizen.”She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Alan C. Hoffman, and her granddaughter, Bethany Arden. Margery is survived by Arden (Dean) Detweiler of Broadalbin, New York, Alice (Paul) Parker of Bethlehem, and Christopher (Mini) Hoffman of Duncan, South Carolina. She has eleven grandchildren: Alissa, Nathan, Laura, Sam, Susie Margery, Breanna, Paul, Maria, Nick, and Joshua Alan. Her great-grandchildren include: Liam and Juliana, Olivia, Elias, Cohen and Naomi, Charlotte, Audrey, Dean, and Adair (expecting twins in March); Asher, Ezekiel, and Kalaiyarasi; Saffron, Juniper Alice, and Lucy; Natalie, Caleb, and Nathan; Jack, Charlotte, and Madeline; Juliet and Ethan; Dillon, Brayden, and Cecelia. Margery is also survived by her beloved sister in law, Susan Manning, and loving cousin Nancy Hoffman as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.Margery was the self-appointed queen of the family, and she will be sorely missed.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at King’s Chapel Church, 440 Rte. 9W Glenmont, NY 12077. The family will receive visitors at the church from 9:30 to 11:00 am before the service.

Joan Marie Whitten

Joan Marie Whitten (Briggs), 87, of Glens Falls, NY peacefully passed away on September 27, 2025 surrounded by family.

Joan was born on May 25, 1938, in Minerva, NY to the late Edwin Briggs and Mary Briggs (Lynn). Joan, alongside her husband Peter, believed her true calling by God was to serve others. Her career began as an educator, however, her primary gift to this world was in fostering numerous babies and young children, and in doing so gave them a start to life that was filled with love. Her ability to also invest fully in her children, and grandchildren (Nana, to them) was astounding. Joan was a strong woman and had a determined spirit, and despite any medical setbacks, truly believed that the only way to live was by living for others. While raising three strong daughters, her love was great enough to share with all who were fortunate to spend time with her. Joan had a love for dance and song, and you would often find her dancing in Worship or playing beautiful songs at her piano. Her passion also included watching and cheering on her children and grandchildren in all their activities. She and the love of her life, Peter, had just celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary.

Joan’s surviving relatives are her husband Peter; her brother, Craig Briggs; her three children; Kelly Hughes and her husband Randy, Erin Hamlen and her husband Tim, and Lisa Whitten; four grandchildren, Connor, Brendan and his fiancé Madison, Brody, and Alli; and several beloved nieces and nephews.

Her impact on all those who she touched through her warmth, kindness, giving nature, and love is her legacy for others to follow. In lieu of flowers or donations, individuals can donate to prolifeacrossamerica.org. The family would like to extend an invitation to a Celebration of Life at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 2 immediately followed by a reception at Pine Knolls Alliance Church, 614 Gansevoort Rd, South Glens Falls, NY.

Ronald J. Waske

Ronald John Waske, age 77, of Delmar N.Y. (formerly of Canton, N.Y.), passed away peacefully on September 28, 2025, at Albany Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

A devoted family man first and always, Ron’s life was rich in achievement, generosity, and quiet influence. Ron embodied the values of loyalty, service, and leadership throughout his life.

Born in Potsdam, N.Y., he was the son of the late Leonard and Helen Waske. A gifted three sport athlete, he graduated from Canton High School and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from St. Lawrence University and a master’s degree in education from Bowling Green University. He married the love of his life, Margaret (Peggy) McNulty, on June 14th, 1969, in Renfrew, Ontario and together they raised their two daughters Amy and Laura.

After graduating, Ron became a teacher and athletic trainer, roles he would elevate with professionalism, compassion, and innovation. He spent 10 years as the athletic trainer for the New York Islanders, contributing to their run of four consecutive Stanley Cup championships from 1980 through 1983. In 2006, Ron was honored by the Professional Hockey Athletic Trainers Society with induction into their Wall of Honor, which is displayed in the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto, a testament to his distinguished service in professional hockey.

In 1984, Ron returned to his alma mater to become Head Athletic Trainer at St. Lawrence University. Over a 26-year tenure there, he helped thousands of student-athletes recover from injury, improve their performance, and reach their fullest potential. He also mentored hundreds of budding athletic trainers, many of whom went on to notable careers in the field. His peers and the wider athletic community recognized Ron’s impact. He was inducted into the St. Lawrence University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2019 for his outstanding contributions to the university’s athletic programs.

Throughout his career and beyond, Ron believed deeply in giving back. He volunteered his time with youth sports programs, shared his expertise with local schools, was an EMT for the local rescue squad, and supported community initiatives. He encouraged students and young professionals, not only those pursuing athletics, but in every field, to lead with integrity, compassion, and commitment to others.

Ron’s passing leaves a profound void in his family’s hearts and in the communities that benefited from his generosity and mentorship. But his legacy endures: in his daughters and grandchildren; in the many athletic trainers, coaches, and athletes he guided; and in the spirit of dutiful service and kindness he modeled every day. Ron is survived by his devoted wife Peggy, daughters Amy (Steven) Jo, Laura (Kelly) Bronson, grandchildren Gavin and Sasha Jo, and Clara and Ellie Bronson. Also surviving is his brother Leonard (Ruth) Waske. He was predeceased by his brothers Richard Waske and Raymond Waske, and also his grandson Alexander Jo.

A memorial service will be planned for a later date to allow family, friends, and former colleagues to gather, share memories, and commemorate a life well-lived.

In honoring Ron’s legacy, the family may suggest that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the St. Lawrence University athletic training program in his name, helping future generations of student-athletes receive care, encouragement, and opportunity, www.givecampus.com/campaigns/41229/donations/new

Mirsa Adham

Below is Mirsa’s obituary in English, followed by the Albanian version. You are warmly invited to sign the guestbook and share your memories.

Lajmërimi i vdekjes në gjuhën shqipe gjendet më poshtë, pas versionit anglisht. Familja ju fton me respekt të ndani ngushellimet në faqen e kujtimeve "Guestbook".

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mirsa Adham, born on August 30, 1931, in Korça, Albania, who passed away on September 23, 2025, at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, New York. A memorial service will be held at St. Sophia’s Church at 9:00 AM on September 26, located at 440 Whitehall Rd, Albany, NY 12208, followed by the funeral at Graceland Cemetery.

Born into a world shadowed by war, Mirsa grew up as the eldest of her siblings, learning early the quiet strength required to care for others. Through the turbulence of World War II, she cultivated resilience, patience, and grace—qualities that would define a lifetime of love and devotion. Mirsa’s hands told stories of care and creativity. Through knitting, crocheting, and weaving, she created more than garments or crafts—she wove continuity, tradition, and family values into every thread. Her curiosity and love of reading enriched her mind, while her presence shaped the hearts of her grandchildren, teaching them the art of patience, attention, and the joy of shared time. With her husband, Mihallaq Adham, she shared sixty years of marriage, raising three children—Pinellopi Qaja, Reana (Loreta) Shkodrani, and Anesti Adham—instilling in them the principles of family, faith, and freedom. Together, they built a home where love and learning were inseparable, and where each gathering became a celebration of belonging. After immigrating to the United States, Mirsa carried her heritage across the ocean, turning each moment with her family into a bridge between past and future. She nurtured traditions, honored memories, and transformed the ordinary into the extraordinary through her warmth and devotion.

Her memory lives on in her children and grandchildren: Reana (Loreta) and her husband, Pirro; Anesti and his wife, Alma, and their son, Michael; and Pinellopi and her husband, Besnik, and their daughters, Evis (with her husband Aleksander and their son Nikkolas) and Diana (with her sons Noah and Lukas).

Predeceased by her beloved husband, Mihallaq, Mirsa now rests beside her lifelong companion, leaving behind a legacy of love that transcends generations. She showed that endurance is love expressed, that true leadership is service, and that the measure of a life is found in the hearts one touches. Her spirit endures—woven into the fabric of family, alive in every act of kindness, every shared story, and every tender memory.

LAJMERIM VDEKJE

Born on January 26, 1951, in Troy, NY, Jim was the son of the late Fredrick and Audrey (White) Bloomingdale. He was a proud graduate of Catholic High and went on to earn his degree from Siena College where he created lifelong friendships with "the wicks" which he maintained for the rest of his life.

Jim dedicated almost 35 years of service to New York State, most of which were spent at the Department of Correctional Services before he retired in 2010. Throughout his career, he formed countless friendships and often spoke fondly of his colleagues during his retirement years. In both his professional and personal life, Jim was known for his outgoing and fun-loving personality. He brought warmth and laughter wherever he went and was happiest when surrounded by friends and family.

A passionate cook, Jim especially loved making and sharing his homemade pizza—a tradition that brought joy to many. Jim also loved photography. He had a keen eye for capturing beautiful moments and places, often turning them into framed gifts for the people he cared about most. His photographs were more than images; they were personal expressions of love and connection, treasured by all who received them.

Jim was a devoted sports fan who rarely missed a Mets or Giants game and loved attending Siena basketball games in support of his alma mater. Jim also enjoyed spending time on the golf course. Golf was another way he connected with others and shared his upbeat, easygoing spirit.

Several years ago, Jim fulfilled a long-held dream by purchasing a home in Florida, where he spent his winters. He loved the warm weather, the laid-back pace of life, and especially being near the beach. Whether walking along the shore, soaking up the sun, or simply relaxing by the pool with a beer in his hand, his time in Florida brought him peace and joy. He made many special friends there and will be greatly missed.

Jim is survived by his loving partner, Lynne Sanchez; his sister Lynn Nelson and her husband Robert, along with their children Christopher and Danny; his daughter Courtney; his son Matthew, Matthew’s wife Jennifer, and their three children—Ryan, Tyler, and Jackson. Jim was also "bonus” Dad and Grandpa to Steven and Andrea Sanchez, their daughters Natalie, Cassidy and Mackenzie and Jessica and Joe Ponessi and their daughter Aspyn. He also leaves behind many relatives and friends that will miss him dearly.

Jim will be remembered for his generous spirit, his contagious smile, and the joy he brought to those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

The family will receive visitors on Sunday, September 28 from 2 to 4 pm at Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar followed by a service at 4 pm.
