Today, on what would have been Peter Applebee’s 80th birthday, we remember a man whose name and legacy are inseparable from this funeral home and the community it has served for generations.

Peter believed deeply in doing things the right way, caring for families with dignity, quiet compassion, and integrity. He earned the trust of generations of families and set a standard that still guides us today.

After many years working alongside Peter, serving families together as funeral directors, we purchased Applebee Funeral Home from him in 2023. Stepping into ownership was a responsibility we accepted with deep respect and a commitment to carrying forward his family’s name and legacy. His passing came far too soon, and he is missed.

Thinking of Peter today, and also of his wife, Nancy, who remains so close to our hearts.

Pamela Rich Amari

Pamela Rich Amari, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on December 28, 2025, in Slingerlands, NY at the age of 74. Born on August 3, 1951, in Albany, NY, Pamela was a remarkable individual who left an indelible mark on those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Pamela was a talented musician and artist, reflected in her educational pursuits. Graduating from Bethlehem Central High School in 1969, Pamela performed the lead in the senior play, Oklahoma, as well as being the lead voice in an award-winning choir. The highlight of her choir presence was starring before a sold-out show at New York City’s Carnegie Hall, a performance captured on vinyl. Her spectacular voice was known as being of “perfect pitch” and was quite the draw. Her artistic interest led her to continue her education at Baldwin Wallace College in Berea, OH, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Art in 1973. This foundation in the arts would serve as a springboard for her expressive talents in both music and real estate.

Pamela initially pursued a professional singing career that garnered admiration from many. Her passion for music was ultimately complemented by a successful later career in real estate. As a Mayflower descendant, Pam had a knack for finding her clients properties that were hidden gems nestled in the Seacoast’s most sought after communities, driving business as an agent of DeWolfe Realty Company in Portsmouth, NH. Pam’s crown jewel real estate acquisition, though, was her own private property that her husband, David, and she acquired, after relocating to Dover, NH. A property with unique and long family ties dating back to the 1600’s, it would serve as the perfect home for raising a family.

Fully invested in her children’s budding lifestyles, Pamela was well known for taking command of the local Dover South Little League concession stand, volunteering for 7-years. She masterfully built out the supply chain, helping the league become cash rich, and a regular and sustainable destination for yearly tournament play. She also had a front row seat, watching her youngest son, Jonathan, who was a star catcher, represent Dover All-Stars in the 1995 State Championship series. And, what became par for the course, Pamela performed the “The Star Spangled Banner,” on opening day, to kick off the Little League season.

Pamela, dubbed, “the coolest mom,” by her children’s many visitors over the years, will have a legacy that lives on through her cherished family. As mentioned, she is survived by her beloved husband, David Amari; her sons, Bradley Amari and Jonathan Amari; and her grandson, Owynn Amari. They are grateful for the knowledge, warmth, love, and laughter she cultivated to enrich their lives.

Pamela is preceded in death by her father, Lowell H. Rich; her mother, Virginia Re*****on Rich; and her sister, Gretchen Rich. Their memories remain alive in the hearts of those she leaves behind, and she will be remembered not just for her vocal talents and professional achievements, but also for the kindness and compassion she shared with everyone she met. Her vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by family, friends, and the community she enriched throughout her life.

At Pamela’s request, services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Born in Albany and living a life intertwined with the warmth of family and community, Janet departed peacefully at Albany Medical Center, surrounded by her cherished family and loved ones.

A proud graduate of Albany High School, Janet dedicated her professional life to serving others. As an Executive Secretary at Albany Medical Center and a sales executive at JC Penney, she found profound joy in weaving stories into the fabric of her daily work. Janet had an uncanny ability to connect with people, making even the briefest encounter feel like a lasting friendship. Her love for helping customers find clothes that made them feel special was more than just a job; it was her calling. For Janet, no one was a stranger; everyone was welcomed as family.

She was renowned for her radiant smile and open-hearted nature, embodying the very essence of kindness. This spirit thrived in her relationships, especially with her dearest daughter, Dawn—her best friend, confidante, and partner in countless adventures. Together they forged memories that will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew them, particularly during the lively New Year’s Day parties Janet so lovingly orchestrated, where she believed family should gather to embrace the start of the new year together.

Her life was not only filled with the love of family but also enriched by her commitment to serving others. Janet's proudest accomplishments included volunteering to feed the homeless, teaching Sunday school at her church, and inspiring those around her through her selfless acts of kindness. In her younger days, she showcased her creative talents by designing and sewing her clothes, earning accolades and awards for her outstanding customer service and unwavering dedication to those she served.

Janet leaves behind a tapestry of love comprised of her daughter Dawn Snay and cherished family members Joy and Joe Pierle, Barbara and Richard Hunt, Barbara and Vic Isca, Pam and Gregory Hunt, Stacey and Michael Allen, and Joe and Paige Pierle. She is also survived by adopted family Rick Bedrosian, Dan Samson and Diane Arduini and Wendy Dury Samson, whom she embraced as daughters, celebrating the bond of sisterhood in spirit.

Though her parents, Walter and Ethel Berg, her brother Walter Berg, and her sister Marjorie Hunt, have passed from this world, they remain forever intertwined in the fabric of her legacy.

Gregory G. Utter

Gregory G. Utter, born on June 2, 1966, in Springfield, MA, passed away on December 26, 2025, at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany. He was 59 years old.

Greg was known for his strong work ethic; he began his journey in dairy farming at the age of 11. Over the years, he transitioned into the trucking industry, where he spent over 22 years driving for Daim in Fultonville, NY, followed by a decade with Foodliner in Albany. His dedication to his work reflected his character—determined and industrious.

Greg had a great laugh and was known for providing the best hugs. With a generous heart, Gregory often selflessly donated to food pantries, animal shelters, and assisting anyone in need that he encountered.

Greg enjoyed bowling and vacationing in Wells, Maine and Niagara Falls. These hobbies brought him great happiness and relaxation away from the demands of everyday life.

Gregory is survived by his children, Chad (Theresa) Utter of Watervliet and Jeremy Michael (Jacob) Utter of CA; his sister Melody Mason of Ballston Lake; and nieces Chelsea Mason, Jeannette Mason, and Kimberly Day; and his longtime friend, Kevin Johnson.

Roy Douglas Marshall

Roy Douglas Marshall, “Doug,” 82 of East Berne, passed away after a brief battle with cancer on December 25, 2025 with family at his bedside.

After graduating Voorheesville High School, Doug attended Illinois Wesleyan where he met and married the love of his life Margaret Lorraine “Midge” Rowley, before settling back home in Slingerlands, NY. He enjoyed a long career as president of his family’s air conditioning and refrigeration wholesaling business, the R.D. Marshall & Co., Inc, at 1 Marshall Place. He was a member and president of ARW, Albany Rotary, and recently joined Kiwanis.

After selling the business, he founded Marshall Sales Agency serving New England, a profession that allowed him to regularly visit his NH grandchildren, before he and Midge moved down to her father’s home in NC in 2014. Once there he embarked on his third career as a Realtor for Caldwell Banker while also working as a volunteer in the Cardiac Rehab Program at Moore Regional Hospital. After Midge’s passing, he returned to NY in 2022.

An avid boater, Doug earned his captain’s license, piloting boats on lakes, the Hudson and the Mississippi, the Erie Canal from end to end, and the ocean, but the place that held his heart was the small lake camp up in the Hilltowns that he built with his family when he was 9 years old. He was a hot-dogging water skier, record setting swimmer, and could drive a boat as casually as walking down a street.

He loved broadly, had a booming laugh, and a resonant voice. A quick wit and gifted writer, he wrote many Old Men of the Mountain columns for the Altamont Enterprise.

Doug had a strong service ethos, and was always ready to help a person in need. He would gas up and plow a neighbor’s driveway, bring groceries to a food pantry, or lend his considerable muscles to a friend.

He leaves behind sister Janet Sue Erickson and her husband Jerry Erickson, daughter Cynthia Marshall St. Jean and son-in-law James David St. Jean, daughter Pamela Sue Marshall, and grandsons James Douglas and Christopher Ryan St. Jean. He was pre-deceased by his wife Midge Marshall, his parents Richard Douglas and Ellen Broughton Marshall, and sister Jo Ellen Marshall.

The family will receive visitors at Applebee Funeral Home 403 Kenwood Ave. Delmar, NY on Saturday, January 17, 2026 from 1-4, with a time for sharing beginning at 3PM.

Alicia Constantino

Alicia Constantino passed peacefully on December 12, 2025, at home, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 94.

Alicia was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, daughter of the late Alfredo DeFranco, late Marta (Bellovino) DeFranco, and late stepmother Maria (Turner) DeFranco.

After high school, Alicia worked as a bookkeeper and at age 18 met the love of her life, Jorge P. Constantino, a medical student. They married in 1956 and soon moved to the US where Jorge completed his medical training.

After returning for two years to Argentina, Alicia and Jorge relocated permanently to the Albany area in 1963 where they raised their four children, and husband Jorge established his cardiology practice.

Alicia’s greatest love was caring for her family, while keeping active in the community and continually learning. After years of encouraging her children towards their advanced degrees, Alicia chose to attend college herself. She enrolled at the University at Albany (despite fretting that she was the oldest student in her classes!) where she obtained her BA (1985) with Phi Beta Kappa honors, and, eventually, her Master’s degree (1991), both in Spanish Literature. She continued to “feed” her love of learning throughout her life, enrolling in adult education courses every semester, as recently as last year.

Alicia and her husband loved hosting parties and maintained their Argentine heritage throughout their lives, including singing and expertly dancing Argentine tangos in honor of Alicia’s father, a tango orchestra leader. Alicia was the co-founder of the South American Spanish Association (SASA) where she and Jorge helped organize social events, participated in the annual Festival of Nations, and served the Capital Region Latino community. Alicia remained active in SASA even after the passing of her husband in 2000.

Alicia especially cherished her summers in Ocean City, NJ and at their Hudson River camp where she shared wonderful moments with family and lifelong friends.

In her last months, Alicia was blessed to have her son Ricardo and daughter-in-law Laura move into her home, along with their pets Lo**ta, Maggie, and Mabel, whose enthusiastic love and care brightened her last months.

In addition to her parents, Alicia was predeceased by her beloved husband, Dr. Jorge P. Constantino. She is survived by her 4 children, Dr. Jorge L. (Sheila Hilley) Constantino, Graciela (James) Desemone, Eduardo (Kim) Constantino, and Ricardo (Laura) Constantino; grandchildren Jarrod Constantino, Travis Constantino, Marcela (Thomas) Draper, Cristina (Jalen) Nesbitt, Sophia Constantino, Lucas Constantino, Nicholas Constantino, Brody Moorman, Ryan (Lauren) Murphy, and Declan (Valerie) Murphy and three great-grandchildren Shane, Claire, and Callum.

Alicia also leaves behind her cherished family in Argentina with whom she remained in close contact during her 62 years in Albany. We are immensely grateful for her dearest siblings Susana (Norberto) Maldonado, Marta (late Roberto) Mel, and Horacio (Elena) DeFranco and her loving nieces, nephews, and cousins who filled her life with joy through their visits and daily chats on WhatsApp.

We are truly thankful to Marilyn Tralongo and colleagues at Symetry Hair Design, whose kindness and friendship enriched Alicia’s life for over 40 years. The family also thanks all those who provided compassionate care to help keep our mother comfortable at home.

Visitation will be held on Friday December 26, 2025, at the Applebee Funeral Home in Delmar, NY from 10 am to 12:00 pm, immediately followed by a Catholic service.

Interment will follow at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie, NY.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to a charity of your choice.

Alicia's Catholic Funeral Service will be livestreamed for those not able to attend commencing at 11:45am

Additionally, her contributions in collaboration with the Refugee Welcome Center highlighted her commitment to addressing educational barriers for refugees.

Vera served on the Board of Mayan Hands, an Albany-based fair-trade nonprofit dedicated to creating economic and educational opportunities for Maya women and girls in Guatemala. Outside of academia, Vera was an avid gardener, known for her nurturing green thumb and fondness for irises and lilies. She treasured nature and often took to the hiking trails of the Adirondacks, Berkshires, and Catskills with her husband, Bill Kelly.

Ginger Lynch Landy

Virginia (Ginger) Marie Lynch Landy passed peacefully on Saturday, December 6th, at home, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer.

Born on March 19, 1965, in Buffalo, NY, Ginger grew up in Oneonta, New York, where she was active in her community and schools. She played community soccer from an early age, a sport that became a true passion throughout her high-school years.

Upon her graduation from high school in 1983, she embarked on a remarkable adventure, spending a year in Cape Town, South Africa, as a Rotary Exchange Student. That experience sparked a lifelong love of travel, a passion she shared with her Matt and their children Erin and Connor.

Ginger’s innate curiosity about national and world politics was galvanized during her experience living in South Africa. Public policy and public service were the theme through her college studies, internships, and work in the New York State Legislature. Ginger’s early career in the office of Mayor Ronald A. Blackwood, Mount Vernon, NY, and position at Syracuse University’s Maxwell School prepared her for her life’s true calling as an advocate and policy expert. The highlights of her career evolved over the past 25 years at Hodes & Landy, where she leaves the workplace culture and success she was so proud of in the hands of her talented partner and team.

On August 16, 1991, she married the love of her life, Matthew, at Immaculate Conception Church in Tuckahoe, NY. Their partnership was rooted in devotion, friendship, and mutual encouragement. Matt inspired her renewed interest in fitness; together they celebrated her accomplishments as she completed several marathons and started yoga practice.

Ginger loved her family deeply. She took enormous pride in her children, supporting their aspirations and celebrating their achievements at every step.

Her foundation of faith deepened throughout her life; and recently found strength and community at St. Pius X Church in Loudonville. In recent months, Ginger reflected with gratitude on the blessings of her life.

Relationships were at the heart of Ginger’s joy. She treasured the friends and colleagues she gathered throughout her life—from childhood classmates in Oneonta, to neighbors, and the close friends she came to consider family. Ginger will be remembered as a devoted aunt and great-aunt who always took a sincere interest in the lives of her nieces and nephews.

Ginger was a dedicated member of the Delmar Rotary Club, where she served as Past President and Past Youth Exchange Chair. She was also a former President and board member of her neighborhood association.

Ginger is survived by her devoted husband of 34 years, Matthew A. Landy, Jr., and their children Erin and Connor; her mother Molly Keogh, Glenmont NY; her father and stepmother, Michael E. Lynch Sr. and Patricia E. Moore, Laurens, NY; sister Christine Lynch Hamel (James and Diana), Dover NH; brother Michael E. Lynch Jr. and Sandra (Daniel and Mary Katherine), Oneonta, NY. Ginger is also survived by her parents-in-law, Matthew and Patricia Landy as well as three beloved generations of the Landy family.

Steven Michael Omlor

Steven Michael Omlor passed away at home in Delmar, NY, on December 2, 2025, surrounded by his beloved family.

Steve was born to Catherine and Vincent Omlor on November 8, 1944, in Tiffin, Ohio, where he attended St. Mary’s Elementary School and graduated from Calvert High School. He was called to duty to serve his country in the Army during the Vietnam War, a time that would leave a lasting mark on his health. Upon completing his tour of duty, Steve began what would become a lifetime passion for photography. He and his wife moved to Chicago, IL, where he completed a course of study at the Ray Vogue School of Photography in Chicago. This began his career as a commercial photographer. The family decided to move back east to the Capital District where Steve continued his photography career. They bought a historic farmhouse in Schoharie, NY, and worked to renovate this for many years creating a wonderful country home to raise their two daughters. After becoming empty nesters, they decided to pursue a new adventure of becoming innkeepers and bought an old inn in Rensselaerville, NY, which needed great repair. They undertook this project together and opened up the Catalpa House Bed and Breakfast. After 15 years they chose to sell the business and moved to South Carolina to be near family and enjoy the warmth and sunshine. Never fearful of change, Cape Cod was the next adventure. They lived there until Steve’s illnesses became too much to manage on their own and moved back to the Albany area to be with family. In addition to photography, Steve had a great passion for music and had an immense CD collection. He loved fishing and enjoyed this the most with his grandchildren. Steve was an avid sports fan with the Chicago Cubs being a favorite, but nothing got in the way of watching Notre Dame football with one of his favorite sayings being “Go Irish” which he made sure all of his grandchildren knew. Steve’s biggest love of all was his family. They meant everything to him and always came first. Becoming a grandfather brought out his humor and he loved to make everyone laugh. Steve was never afraid to show his emotions and wore his heart on his sleeve.

Steve is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marlene Marra Omlor; his daughters Vanessa Griesmer (Terry) and Emily Cook (Ted); his grandchildren Nathan Mills and Cole, Sophie, and Jonah Cook; his sister, Sister Jane Francis Omlor, and brother Pete Omlor (Melitte). And we cannot forget his faithful dog Mojo who was his constant companion to the end. He leaves us with an empty place in our hearts but full of the love we have for him.

A mass for Steve will be celebrated at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Delmar, NY, on Saturday, December 13th, at 12:00. In place of flowers, donations to the American Diabetes Foundation or St. Jude Hospital for Children are appreciated. Both organizations accept donations on their websites.
