🧠Did you know... Children who are read to for 20 minutes a day are exposed to 1.8 million words per year.
📘Reading helps build receptive and expressive language
📗Reading the same book everyday is a good thing! It creates a routine and your child learns to expect specific words. This will help increase your child's expressive language and involvement in storybook time!
📕Reading helps create a stronger bond with your child by helping them feel safe and loved.
📙Always keep it fun and silly! Have fun with your littles.

🧠Did you know that your child should understand ~50 words by age 1 and that number rapidly increases to ~1,000 words by age 3!?
🗣️Speak to your child early and often to start building their vocabulary.
🔈Label what you are doing but also label your child's actions throughout the day.

Happy Friday! Looking for something fun to do this weekend?! Target your child's speech and language during a scavenger hunt!

🔍 Expand on your discoveries means expanding your child's language development! Talk about an object's size, shape, color and texture!
🔍 Incorporate your child's speech sound into the search! Use "I spy or I see...." if working on /s/ sounds.
🔍 Increase your child's length of utterance! Use 1-2 word phrases during the hunt such as "more leaves", "want leaves", "red leaves", "big pumpkin". Remember to only add 1-2 words beyond your child's spontaneous speech.

🍂Tip Tuesday 🍂
Is your kid stuttering?! Did you know that boys stutter 3x more than girls?! Here are some tips to help encourage fluent speech
🍂 Let your child finish their word or sentence on their own. Never finish their words or sentences for them.
🍂 Try to ignore it! Do not draw attention to their stuttering.
🍂 Slow down during transitions. Try to be more mindful about slowing down vs. rushing when transitioning to/from your home.
🍂 Model slower, easy speech without the pressuring them to imitate it.
🍂When in doubt, reach out to for an evaluation! We are here to help!
