- Pain in the neck edition -

After yesterday’s Muscle Monday…
let’s give you something you can actually DO about it 😏



(1) Easy Stretch (Levator Scapulae):

👉 Sit or stand tall
👉 Turn your head slightly (like you’re looking into your armpit)
👉 Gently pull your head forward/down

You should feel a stretch along the back/side of your neck

⏱️ Hold 20–30 seconds (don’t yank it—be nice 😅)

(2) Quick Posture Fix:

Check your shoulders right now 👀

If they’re creeping up…
👉 drop them down
👉 take a slow breath in
👉 and let them fully relax on the exhale

Most people live with their shoulders slightly elevated all day without realizing it.

But if you go right back to:
❌ stress
❌ poor posture
❌ shallow breathing

That tension comes RIGHT back.

❓What Is this muscle
and What does It do ❓

You know this one - Its the pain In the “tech neck”- and this tiny muscle might be the reason your neck and shoulders always feel tight…


Let’s talk about the levator scapulae 👇

This muscle runs from your upper neck → down to your shoulder blade.

Its main job?
👉 Lifting your shoulder (shrugging)
👉 Helping stabilize your neck

This muscle is working ALL the time when you:
❌ sit at a desk
❌ look down at your phone
❌ carry stress in your upper body



😵‍💫 Why it gets so tight:

When you’re stressed… your fascia goes into a subtle “guarded” state….

👉 shoulders creep up
👉 neck tightens
👉 breathing gets shallow

That levator scapulae stays slightly contracted… ALL DAY!!

Over time that turns into:
☑️ Neck stiffness
☑️ That “knot” at the top of your shoulder blade
☑️ Tension headaches



🧠 A little Science Brain for ya:::

According to concepts from Anatomy Trains…

This area is part of a larger fascia chain that connects your head, neck, and upper back.

So when one area is tight…
👉 it pulls on everything else in that chain

Which is why neck tension rarely stays “just in the neck.”

🌿 Sunday Reset + Self-Care + Real Life

Sunday isn’t just a rest day… it’s a reset day.

✅ meal prep
✅ getting my schedule together
✅ moving my body (even if it’s light)
✅ taking time to actually slow down

Because if I don’t set myself up for the week…
the week runs me.

Because self-care isn’t always candles, soaking baths, and face masks…

Sometimes it’s:
👉 being disciplined
👉 getting organized
👉 doing the things you don’t feel like doing

So your future self isn’t stressed, tired, and playing catch-up all week.

For me, this is how I stay on track—
mentally AND physically.

OK!!! Who ordered this heat?? Because it definitely wasn’t me!!
I ORDERED SPRING WEATHER NOT SUMMER HEAT!!



Listen… Y’all know I am NOT built for summer 😂

Give me snow, hoodies, and 40°F all day - or a nice SPRING DAY at 65°F

But this heat wave??
Absolutely not.

But I’m also out here taking care of my greenhouse and my veggie garden sweating like a late 40’s woman during perimenopause 😂🙄

And I know those that love “this weather” are just out here in the heat:
🌿 yard work
🌸 gardening
🌱 “just cleaning things up real quick”

And then a few hours later…

👉 low back tight
👉 shoulders cranky
👉 sinuses acting up
👉 sweating like your life depends on it ( maybe just me?)

All that bending, pulling, reaching + heat + allergens…
👉 your body gets inflamed
👉 your fascia tightens up
👉 your sinuses get irritated

So if you’re out here pretending you’re fine…

✔️ Hot towels (to soften + relax tissue)
✔️ Cold stones (to reduce inflammation + calm pressure)
✔️ Targeted lymphatic work (to actually MOVE fluid)

This helps open up pathways and guide everything to drain the way it’s supposed to.



Then we take it a step further…
