SELF- CARE SUNDAY!!

Sometimes you just need to take a day for yourself. 😌

It’s been a while since I’ve been to my waterfalls or the river. 💧
When the weather Is perfect at a 45*-65* temperature, I’ll be found near the water 🌅

💦 Water makes me feel calm and allows me to meditate and feel like myself again.

I took a little note from a friend and made a little stacked rock tower.
And I found yet another wood drift piece for my collection!! 🙂

🌀 Self care doesn’t always look like a spa day. (But If you need one I know a great massage therapist!)

Sometimes it’s just an hour or so alone at the water to help rejuvenate the cells in your body and bring you back to your normal 😌

Apparently winter saw yesterday’s “fake summer” and decided to return with a vengeance. 😅

But the cold actually has some real therapeutic benefits.

Cold therapy can help:

Wellness Wednesday ☀️ message from our LMT Jennee aka Elsa

Taking advantage of this “fake summer weather” before winter remembers it’s supposed to be here. 😅

But spending a little time in the sunshine isn’t just enjoyable — it actually has real health benefits.

A few minutes of sunlight can help:

☀️ Boost Vitamin D production – important for bone health and immune function
☀️ Improve mood – sunlight helps your brain produce serotonin
☀️ Support your immune system
☀️ Regulate your sleep cycle by helping balance circadian rhythms
☀️ Reduce stress levels

Even 10–20 minutes of sunlight can make a difference.

So if you can today…
Step outside.
Take a few deep breaths.
Let your body wake up a little.

Because apparently winter is just taking a short coffee break. ☕️

Does this remind you of anyone?
Yourself perhaps? 😆

Most people wake up on Monday feeling stiff, tired, and already behind.

That’s because your body just spent 6–8 hours not moving. (And keeping busy all weekend with this beautiful weather!)

👉🏻Your joints are a little sticky.
👉🏻Your fascia is dehydrated.
👉🏻Your muscles are wondering what you’re about to make them do today.

That’s why I always start my morning with a simple 5-10 minute reset routine:

🌀A few deep breaths
🌀A big exaggerated stretch and yawn
🌀Gentle neck and shoulder movement
🌀Something motivational playing while I get ready

Nothing fancy.
Just waking up the nervous system and getting the body moving.

⏰ Its the first 5-10 minutes of my morning, but it can change how your whole day feels.

Think of it like hitting the “start engine” button for your body. 🚦

😂 Proof that massage therapists also ignore their own advice. (I would NEVER Ignore my own body aches while treating my clients and advising them to stretch daily) 🤣

My left shoulder had been cranky after a crazy sleeping posture, and then yesterday my right shoulder started some kind of shananigans…
so yesterday it was time to bring out the cups.

😲 Yes… I cupped myself.

Because sometimes your Trapezius (and other shoulder muscles we will doscuss next week) decides it’s done cooperating and starts living permanently in your ears.

👉🏻 Cupping works differently than massage.
💆🏼‍♀️ Massage presses into tissue.
☕️ Cupping lifts the tissue up.

That gentle suction helps:

• Create space between fascia and muscle
• Increase blood flow to the area
• Reduce muscle tension
• Encourage lymphatic movement
• Calm irritated nerves

Basically… it gives tight muscles room to breathe again. 🫁

Research also suggests cupping may help relieve pain by:

💪🏻 What Is this muscle and What does It do? (In my nest Arnold voice😂)

AKA: “Why are my shoulders living in my ears?”

Your trapezius (or “traps”) is that big diamond-shaped muscle across your upper back.

It connects:
• The base of your skull
• Down your neck
• Across your shoulders
• Into the middle of your back

Basically… it’s the bridge between your head and your shoulders.
And It can cause major aches and pains!

So, what does it do?

💪🏻 Helps you shrug
💪🏻 Helps you turn and tilt your head
💪🏻 Helps stabilize your shoulder blades
💪🏻 Helps you lift your arms

BUT::::

When you sit in “tech neck” all day…
… with your head forward.
… with your shoulders rounded.
… Scrolling like your life depends on it…

• Constantly working.

NOT MY FAULT!!
I do not like the Icy precipitation!!

I myself had a slight slip but luckily I did not fall - kinda did a matrix-style maneuver like Neo 😂❄️

BUT—— Even if you didn’t fully fall, your spine probably braced fast to protect you — and that quick contraction can leave you with:

🚫 Mid-back tightness
🚫 Low back stiffness
🚫 Neck guarding
🚫 That compressed, “stuck” feeling

Ice in the first 24–48 hours can help calm irritation (10–15 minutes, barrier on skin).

Sometimes you just need a day to recover from all the snow events of this season 😂 ☃️

❄️ What’s an Elsa to do when her snow-making arm has been completely overworked?

☎️ Call in Team No Snow for backup apparently 😏

— But in all seriousness —

When you overwork a muscle (whether it’s shoveling snow, training hard, lifting at the gym, or pretending you control winter) your body responds with:

🚫 Muscle tightness
🚫 Decreased range of motion
