🌟 December Resident of the Month: Mr. Haynes 🌟
Luna Rehabilitation and Care Center is proud to introduce our new Resident of the Month program. With full support from our Administrator, a committee of team members was formed, including our front desk clerk, CNA, charge nurse, therapist, and activities staff, to recognize residents who make a positive impact in our community.
The committee developed selection criteria to guide nominations. Residents are chosen based on:
• Positive attitude
• Participation in activities
• Kindness toward others
• Overcoming challenges
• Adapting well to the community
These guidelines helped our team nominate five residents from both long-term care and skilled care for December. The names were then presented to our Administrator and management team for final voting. This is the process we’ll continue using each month.
We are thrilled to announce that Mr. Haynes has been selected as December’s Resident of the Month.
Mr. Haynes has called Luna his home since 2016 and, at 92 years old, continues to inspire us daily. An Army Veteran and former Resident Council President, he is known for his warm greetings, generous spirit, and dedication to staying active.
He helps fellow residents during bingo, translates English to Spanish when others need support, and participates in therapy with determination — often seen walking the halls with his therapists or laughing his way through exercise group. On days when his hearing makes conversation difficult, he communicates using his trusty whiteboard, never losing his smile or patience.
One of the many reasons he was selected is his kindness. More than once, Mr. Haynes has given away his bingo prizes to brighten someone else’s day. His generosity and heart represent the very best of Luna.
His prizes and fun will bring him joy and honor the light he brings to our community.
