Bryan J. Curtis was born January 22, 1980, in Denison, Texas, to Reginald and LaQuita Curtis, Bryan spent his entire life in the community he loved.

He was Superman—larger than life and seemingly indestructible. To his nieces and nephews, he was affectionately called Caveman, a nickname inspired by his signature beard. His family and friends truly believed he would live forever. He’s onto his next life and next adventure.

Bryan wasn’t always the easiest person to deal with some of the time, but his heart was in the right place. He would offer his last dollar, a meal, or clothes to someone in need. He always helped his friends and loved ones the best he could—no one ever went without if Bryan had a way to provide for them.

Bryan was very intelligent and could fix anything—cars, lawn mowers, dirt bikes, and just about anything with a motor. It was something he and his father shared a deep passion for and enjoyed doing together for many years.

He loved to fish and truly enjoyed teaching his nieces and nephews about motors and riding dirt bikes and ATVs. There were times they would all disappear, and you’d find them down at the creek just wandering around. Kids loved him—they would all gather to visit, sometimes refusing to leave when their parents came to get them.

Bryan is survived by his mother, LaQuita Curtis of Denison; his beloved dogs, King and Little Girl, whom he loved more than anything, he spoiled them with pink starbursts; his sisters Deanna Britton, Tamera Plemmons (his favorite sister) and husband Michael, Tresa Curtis, all of Denison; and sister Shelly Evans and husband Bryan of Howe; and uncle Michael Curtis and wife Judy of Denison.

He also leaves behind his nieces and nephews: Makayla Plemmons, Erin Reid and husband Benjamin, Tyler Britton and Eric Britton all of Denison; Kassidy Monterroza and husband Carlos of Sherman; Tristian Townsend of Denison; Kiley Waters; Collin Evans and wife Lindsey; and Caden Evans, of Howe. He also adored his great-niece, Kinsley of Sherman, who loved to visit and ride the little antique mower he was building for her.

Bryan will also be deeply missed by his closest cousin who was his bonus brother, Royce Chapman, and close friend and neighbor, Joe Schmidt, both of Denison; many cousins and a host of friends and loved ones who will forever miss their “Fuzzy.”

Bryan was preceded in death by his father, Reginald (Reggie) Curtis, Phillip Townsend, his grandparents Joseph Chapman, Gloria Rolen, Calvin and Cliffie Curtis, papaw Birt Rolen. Uncles and aunts, Michael Curtis Sr., David Curtis; Kaye Wood, Royce Chapman; Birt Rolen Jr.; Jackie and Jimmy Hagan; and Belinda and Mark Roth.

Bryan, you are now with Dad. Find your peace and know that the heavenly distance between us now does not change the power of our love.

Roy Thomas Cook, 55, who was a resident of Denison, Texas, passed away on October 22nd, 2025.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Celesta Cook of the home; his children, Brandon and Savannah Cook of Baxter Springs, Kansas, Darrick Fullerton and Ashley Gifford of Baxter Springs, Kansas, Mariah Patton and husband Randy of Columbus Kansas, Dakota Hinman of Parsons, Kansas and Desirea Casey of Deerfield Beach, Florida; his grandchildren, River and Kayce Cook, Amberly Youngblood, Myleigh Stewart, Westin, Wyatt, Willow and Whitley Patton, Avery and Tatum Fullerton as well as Montana Fullerton due January 2026; mother, Sandi Ridenour-Smola and husband Jim. He was blessed with Joe and Ronda Osborn as his second set of parents for many years; sisters, Teree Hoffer and husband Bubba, Tamee Cook and Summer Roberts; a very Special Aunt and Uncle Randy and Bonnie Ridenour; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Roy was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on March 20,1970, to Sandra Lynn Cook and Jack Orville Cook. He graduated from Lincoln high School in Lincoln, California in 1988 and went on to attend Coffeyville Community College. He started his career as an EMT before going into construction and then on to start his own contracting company called “Cook’s Installation”, from changing a light bulb to building a house, was the way he rolled.

They say, “you can shed a tear because he is gone, or you can smile because he lived”. Roy definitely lived life to the fullest. He was known to cut up with the best of them and have fun. He enjoyed camping, boating, off-roading, anything outside & being with loved ones. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and a passionate Harley-Davidson rider.

From first look, it might have seemed that he was a rough biker, but to the ones that loved him, he was an angel in disguise. If you knew him or even knew of him, you know he was a true lifelong friend. He was usually the first one to show up when someone was in need and the last to leave. Just so he could make sure the job got done, he was known to help out any and everyone that he possibly could. To say Roy would give someone the shirt off his back, was an understatement.

Roy lived life the way he wanted, and, on his terms, which was a life that was dedicated to his family and loved ones. If he wasn't working to provide for them, he was spending time with his wife and kids, while laughing with the grandkids, truly just enjoying every minute of it.
He will be remembered as a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Uncle, and a true Friend.

Smiling at the thought of the countless “Good times” and his amazing sense of humor, Roy will undoubtedly be missed for his boundless generosity, his wisdom, and his unwavering dedication to his family, and the ones he loved.

A Celebration of Roy’s Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 8, 2025, at his home. The celebration will be in the backyard. The family requested all attendees to bring a lawn chair.
