James Dale “PawPaw Grumpy” Hawkins, 67, passed away on December 5, 2025, in Colbert, Oklahoma. Born on September 15, 1958, in Shreveport, Louisiana, James lived a life marked by service, craftsmanship, humor, and deep devotion to his family.

A proud graduate of Howe High School’s Class of 1976, James went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Air Force. His time in the military was a source of great pride throughout his life.

James was a skilled carpenter who took immense pride in his work. Whether building something from scratch or restoring what others thought beyond repair, he brought precision and passion to every project. His hands were as steady with tools as they were generous in offering help—always ready to lend support when someone was in need.

Known affectionately as “PawPaw Grumpy,” James had a larger-than-life personality that left an impression wherever he went. He was a prankster with a sharp wit and a heart full of compassion. He loved to cut up and have fun but also knew when to offer a firm hand or a listening ear. His sense of humor followed him even into the hospital halls of TMC, where he famously entertained—or tormented—the nurses by playing the spoons for hours with his door wide open.

James had many hobbies that reflected his creative spirit and love for the outdoors. He once enjoyed cutting gemstones until health challenges made it difficult. He spent countless hours whittling wood into handcrafted creations and found joy in canoeing through whitewater rapids. A frequent fixture at the senior center or Denison Whataburger, he cherished time spent “shooting the breeze” with friends.

He also had an appreciation for body art and spent many hours under the tattoo needle—a testament to his bold character and expressive nature.

Above all else, James was a devoted father who loved his sons deeply. Though he endured the heartbreaking loss of three sons—Jacob Hawkins, Micah Hawkins, and Joshua Hawkins—his love for them remained unwavering throughout his life.

James is survived by his son James Lucas Hawkins and wife Melissa Hawkins of Sherman, Texas; his biological granddaughter Malyssa-Sue Lysell Hawkins of Sherman; step-grandchildren Jayna McBride of Farmersville; Joseph McBride of McKinney; Briana Stapleton and Victoria Joann Stapleton of Van Alstyne; Brandon Wayne Stapleton II from Kingston, Ok ; and step great-grandchildren Maverick Kurt and Emersyn-Kay Morrow.

He is also survived by his sister Judy Hawkins of Denison; nephew James Daniel Garcia and wife Leigh Ann Garcia of Denison; niece Jessica Garcia of Sherman; great-nephew Jax Owen; as well as numerous other family members who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents Tommie Sue Hawkins and Jimmy Dale Hawkins; sons Jacob, Micah, and Joshua Hawkins; grandparents; and great-grandparents.

James Dale Hawkins lived life on his own terms—with grit, laughter, loyalty, and love. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and joy to those who recall the sound of spoons echoing down hospital hallways.

Family and friends will gather to visit and celebrate his life, Monday, December 15, 2025, at Fisher Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m.

Jared Allen Waller
August 20, 2000 – December 4, 2025

Our sweet Jared left us on December 4, 2025, at TMC, held close in the arms of the family and friends who loved him beyond words.

Jared was our walking IMDb, the one who could quote every line and light up any room with his passion. He lived for acting, gaming, creating YouTube videos, collecting comics, and watching Smallville on repeat. But nothing in this world lit him up like his girls—his beautiful wife Lilly Mae and his precious daughter Chloe Rose—or the family and friends who were his whole heart. Jared loved fiercely, laughed loudly, and cared deeply and was the best brother. He was kind in a way that changed people. He was gentle in a way the world desperately needs.

We are overwhelmed and deeply touched to see just how many lives Jared reached. The outpouring of love from friends near and far, from childhood buddies to online friends, has shown us that his light touched countless hearts. Knowing he was loved by so many, and that he made so many people feel seen and valued, brings us comfort we can’t even put into words.

The world has lost a bright, shining soul, and heaven just gained the best movie-trivia partner it’ll ever have.

Jared was welcomed home by Mimi & PaPa, his Papaw, cousins Koby, Jacob, Josh, and his beloved puppies Rigby, Daisy, and Debbie who were waiting at the door for him.

He leaves behind an aching hole in the hearts of his wife Lilly Mae Waller and daughter Chloe Rose Waller; his Mom and Bonus dad Ginger Waller and Billy Harris; his Dad Archie Waller; sisters Payten and Kaila Bandy; brothers Noah and Billy Harris; nieces and nephews Elizjah, An’yliah, Corbin, Izzy, and Asher; Grandpa Thomas Vaughn and Grandma Martha Teague; aunts and uncles Tracy and Butchie Morales, Shari & Jose, and Lee; cousins Victoria, Chelsea, Gaven, Logan, Amanda, Angel, Shiala, Brennan, Landon, Carolyn, Brittany, Meranda, Stormie and his very best puppy friend Barron.

Funeral Service for Jared will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 12, 2025, at Fairview Cemetery Chapel in Denison, Texas. Family and friends will gather to visit from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Fisher Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be RJ Buchanan, Josh McNeil, Jacob Camp, Casey Thompson, Lee Thomas, and Larry Sampson.

We love you, Jared. Always.

We’ll keep the credits rolling for you. ❤️

12/04/2025

Bette Ann (Marino) Pittman, 84, passed away peacefully the day before Thanksgiving, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Dallas, Texas, she was the daughter of Joe R. Marino and Jorene (Dickenson) Marino and grew up in the community that shaped her lifelong devotion to learning, family, and compassion.

Bette graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Southern Methodist University and later earned her Master’s degree from Phillips University. She met the love of her life who became her husband, David George Pittman, while the two of them played together in SMU Band—Bette on trumpet, and David on saxophone and clarinet. Their shared love of music sparked a partnership that would last a lifetime. They married on June 23rd, 1962, and spent the next 63 years utterly devoted to one another in what may be the most perfect marriage of all time.

Bette dedicated her career to teaching elementary-aged children, culminating in many influential years at Preston Hollow Elementary in the Dallas Independent School District. During her tenure there, she was honored as Educator of the Year, in recognition of her exceptional commitment to her students. Her students remember her as gentle, patient, and an endlessly encouraging teacher who saw potential in every child who walked through her classroom door.

About 25 years ago, Bette and David moved to Denison, Texas, where she finally fulfilled a lifelong dream: owning horses and enjoying a bit of land that brought her great joy. She adored her animals, her horses, Scooter and Cruise, and her beloved donkey, Elvis, each of them a daily reminder of the country life she had always hoped to live.

Bette was a lifelong lover of animals of all kinds and had several cherished dogs throughout her life. She is survived by her beloved dog, Sluggo, whom she spoiled absolutely rotten with the finest food and treats. Her affection for her animals reflected her gentle spirit and the generosity with which she cared for everything entrusted to her.

She had many passions that enriched her days. She loved shopping and gardening, finding joy in simple beauty and thoughtful details. In her golden years, she began learning the art of stained glass, embracing creativity with the same enthusiasm she brought to teaching. Fiercely conservative in her beliefs, she was an active member of the Republican Women’s Club of Dallas and served a term as its President, reflecting her deep engagement in civic life.

Bette is survived by her husband of 63 years, David Pittman; her son, Joseph Gregory Pittman of Sherman; her daughter, Rebecca Ruth Pittman of Dallas; and her treasured granddaughter, Avery Forest Lopez of Dallas, daughter of Rebecca Ruth Pittman and Ricardo Lopez Jr. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Bette’s life was marked by deep kindness, quiet strength, and an unwavering love for her husband and family. She touched countless lives through her teaching, her friendship, and her compassionate heart, her legacy will live on in those who had the fortune of knowing her.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation at Fisher Funeral Home in Denison, Texas, on Friday, December 5th, from 5:00–7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Waples United Methodist Church in Denison on Saturday, December 6th, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a reception where a light lunch and beverages will be served.
