March is National Nutrition Month, and today is National Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day! We are grateful for the vital role dietitians play in patient care. They help us understand how nutrition supports recovery, manages chronic conditions and promotes overall wellness. From developing personalized nutrition plans to educating patients and families about healthy choices, their expertise ensures that nutrition remains an essential part of the healing process.

This week, the Action Station in the TMC Café has featured a special menu inspired by this year’s national theme, “Discover the Power of Nutrition.” Today’s menu included delicious Greek bowls. We invite you to join us for lunch and check out the menu for yourself.

Today, our Food & Nutrition Services team also celebrated our dietitians with a beautifully crafted charcuterie board and dessert tray. Join us in thanking our dietitians!

In 2025, the accomplishments of our hospital teams were preeminent! As we look back, we can’t help but highlight two specific departments that made significant impacts on our patients, quality, and culture. We recently presented them with a special GOAT (Greatest of All Time) trophy that will be awarded annually. Let us tell you about our winners!

Clinical Winner – Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
Our CVICU was top‑notch in the area of patient experience, maintaining the highest “Recommend the Hospital” scores within TMC during 2025. Their quality metrics and low turnover rates were exceptional, and nurses in the department were highly engaged in completing certifications and competencies. Join us in celebrating CVICU!

Non-Clinical Winner – Food & Nutrition Services (FNS)
Our FNS team implemented improvements last year that made a significant impact on our patient, physician, and retail services. Operational changes led to reduced tray delivery times, improved food quality, and increased patient satisfaction scores. TMC’s FNS was even recognized by our parent company for ranking at the top in retail sales. FNS is a large department, and we’re thrilled to showcase just a few of their incredible accomplishments.

Join us in congratulating Joyce Barkley and Alyssa Spring with our Health Information Management team for once again ensuring that TMC has received Exemplary status from the Texas Attorney General.

As our birth registrars, Joyce and Alyssa help establish paternity for unmarried parents by assisting them in completing the Acknowledgment of Paternity (AOP). Their hard work and dedication make it possible for the biological father’s name to be placed on their newborn's birth certificate, giving the father legal rights to his child.

Each year, a Paternity Outreach Coordinator with the Office of the Attorney General monitors every birthing hospital in the state of Texas to ensure they are complying with the AOP regulations. Once again, Texoma Medical Center is at 100%, earning us Exemplary status. This designation is directly related to Joyce and Alyssa’s dedication to our patients and their families!

We are incredibly proud of our nurses and since 2010 have teamed up with the DAISY Foundation to honor them with national recognition. Our latest Daisy honoree is a two-time recipient. And after reading this nomination for Chalyn Conary, RN, from another TMC nurse whose family was under her care, you'll agree with us that she is more than deserving of this recognition.

"There are multiple reasons why I could nominate her. From her care for my sister, to the attentiveness she has shown my family and myself since my sister was transferred to our facility, but today, December 23, takes the cake. Chalyn was asking my niece if she was ready for Christmas while in my sister's room, my niece said "kind of." My sister's situation is hard on all of us, but her daughter obviously is affected in a way that even no one in my family can imagine. Chalyn heard this and said absolutely not. She went and found a Christmas tree, stripped it of its decorations, and took it to my sister's room so my niece could decorate a Christmas tree with her mom one more time. That meant more to me, and definitely my family, than we could ever express. Being in the hospital is hard enough, but being a kid with your mom in the hospital during the holidays is that much harder, and having Chalyn as my sister's nurse today helped to bring the holidays to them in a special way."

Thank you for helping us recognize our extraordinary nurses with your nominations. They can easily be made here at bit.ly/TMC_Daisy_Nurse

All week, members of TMC's senior leadership team hosted a series of town hall meetings on the main hospital campus, at TMC Behavioral Health Center and at TMC Reba McEntire® Center for Rehabilitation.

Interim CEO/COO Jason Madsen even played game show host, handing out gift cards to employees who answered trivia questions correctly. These meetings give our team members an opportunity to learn about important updates related to everything from new providers on staff to special projects on the forefront. They also solidify our commitment to our patients as together we work to fulfill our vision of being the preeminent healthcare provider in the healthcare region.

Chronic pain led one area family to TMC, where our Interventional Radiology team, led by Dr. M. Bilal Alam, performed our first bone ablation on a pediatric patient. This minimally invasive procedure, commonly used with adult patients at TMC, made a significant difference in treating this young patient's condition. https://bit.ly/PedBoneAblation

HeartMenders, a special group of TMC Volunteers, help both patients undergoing open-heart surgery and their families feel better prepared for the journey ahead. The HeartMender program began at TMC 25 years ago at the suggestion of Dr. R.J. Wilcott, a TexomaCare cardiovascular surgeon who, along with his two partners, performed 254 open-heart surgeries at TMC in 2025. Hear from the family member of a recent patient who learned just how important that support can be.

If you or someone you know has undergone open-heart surgery and is interested in becoming a HeartMender volunteer, submit an application online at https://bit.ly/4aSeiw2.

The last place Kathy Lovell expected to be over the holidays was the hospital. Then, one of her family members went into cardiac arrest.

In addition, TMC operates a number of locations throughout the Texoma region.

The hospital offers major specialty services, including open heart surgery and neurosurgery. Advanced resources, such as certified trauma care, support TMC's role as a regional specialty center.
