GIVING SIGHT TO GOD’S PEOPLE, ONE PERSON AT A TIME!

Efforts will soon begin for the ~
12th Eye Care Medical Outreach
Screening is scheduled to begin April 13, 2026;
surgical procedures on May 11.

The recap of the Outreach Program for the second half of 2025 is quite impressive! Efforts began on the 20th of October at North Dayi and officially ended on the 15th of December at Central Tongu.

The journey of restoring sight to God’s people has been impactful across fifteen (15) districts, namely: Hohoe, Jasikan, Guan, Afadjato South, North Dayi, Kpando, Ho Central, Akatsi North, Ketu North, North Tongu, Central Tongu, Keta, South Tongu, Ketu South, and Akatsi South.

Upon conclusion of the outreach, the team:

• Assessed 22,290 persons,

• Dispensed 19,964 eye drops to treat various eye ailments,

• Distributed 3,614 medicated eyeglasses for refractive correction,

• Performed 1,905 successful eye surgeries across twelve (12) health facilities in the region.

The visually impaired, both young and old, who were led into the theatre for surgery walked back home on their own.

Beginning on Saturday, the surgical team worked in the Adidome Government Hospital, Adidome. They reported 44 successful surgeries on Saturday, 73 on Sunday, and on their 3rd and final day yesterday, an additional 26 successful surgeries.

Every day following surgery is the exercise of post-op reviews. This morning, the team will finish up with yesterday’s surgery post-ops for a total of 143 persons since the weekend.

On Monday, the team moved to Keta Municipal Hospital, Keta, and later that day reported 65 successful surgeries.

The morning brought with it this touching story…

… For five long years, Miss Mercy Dunyo, a 28-year-old petty trader and her husband Mr. Xorla Agbenato who is a commercial motor rider, have prayed tirelessly for their son Henry to regain his sight. What they never imagined was that their 1-year-9-month-old son Kelvin was also visually impaired.

During a recent outreach, the screening team diagnosed both children, and they are now undergoing surgery at the Keta Municipal Hospital.

We pray for a successful outcome by tomorrow morning.

The skilled hands of the surgery team began efforts at Poll Eye Clinic at Dzodze in the Ketu North Municipality on Thursday, December 4.

On Thursday, they reported 74 successful surgeries. They continued on Friday reporting an additional 59 successful surgeries.

The blessings of December will bring a fresh start for many!
