So many have asked me through the years, “How do you know about so many herbs?” and my answer is always the same… when I find them, I research them. The easiest way to learn about herbs and herbalism is by starting right outside your own front or back door. It’s what I always do whenever I move somewhere new. I love to see and observe and research and learn about and use and practice with and make things with the herbs that grow around me, wherever I am.

Today my little darling and I went outside and found, identified, and researched several herbs within the maybe 20 yards of land around our home.

Another spring day, another wild herb foraged... today we found Galium Aparine or Cleavers, also known as Stickywilly, Bedstraw, Goosegrass, and others. Grows up to 6ft tall with tiny white flowers shooting from its awning looking sticky leaves. The shoots are like velcro and stick together in bunches when picked.

Medicinally used mainly as a tea or tincture for it's diuretic, lymph moving, clearing away old fluid retained in the nodes and body, anti-inflammatory, and for bladder infections.

We will be making a tincture with it and drying some for tea.

Sláinte is táinte!
