On Employee Appreciation Day, we want to pause and recognize the people behind the agencies we serve. The home health and hospice industry is built on dedication, resilience, and compassion and it’s your teams who show up every day to care for patients, navigate complexity, and meet constant change with professionalism and heart. The work isn’t easy, but it matters deeply, and it doesn’t go unnoticed.

At MAC Legacy, we’re grateful to partner with organizations that invest in their people and value the leaders, clinicians, and support staff who make this industry strong. We see the long hours, the attention to detail, and the commitment to doing what’s right for patients and communities. Today is a reminder of how important it is to celebrate your employees and to say thank you for the impact they make every single day.

Healthcare quality is no longer measured by documentation alone, it’s measured by outcomes.

With Star Ratings and the Home Health Value Based Purchasing (HHVBP) model directly impacting public perception and reimbursement, agencies need more than education. They need strategy, precision, and ongoing support.

At MAC Legacy, we partner with home health agencies to help them confidently navigate both Star Ratings and HHVBP through focused, practical consulting designed to improve performance where it matters most.

Why Choose Us to Review Your HHVBP Reports?
Comprehensive Analysis: We delve deep into your performance metrics, identifying areas of excellence and opportunities for improvement.

Customized Strategies: Our recommendations are tailored to your agency’s unique needs, ensuring you’re on the fastest path to improvement.

Financial Uplift: By optimizing your VBP performance, we aim to enhance your reimbursement rates and reduce penalties.

Continuous Support: We don’t just stop at the report; we provide ongoing support to help you implement changes and track progress.

Whether your goal is protecting your current scores or proactively improving future performance, MAC Legacy provides clear guidance and actionable insight, without overwhelming your team.

Leadership Lesson: Honor
Honor at work isn’t about titles, authority, or how long someone’s been around.
True honor shows up in everyday moments, how we speak, how we respond under pressure, and how we treat people whose work may never be seen or celebrated.

It’s easy to show respect when someone agrees with us, outranks us, or makes our job easier.
The real test of honor is how we treat others when none of those conditions exist.

Healthy cultures don’t reserve honor for position—it’s extended through character.
Leaders who practice honor recognize the value of hard, repetitive, behind-the-scenes work.
Employees who lead with honor engage with others professionally and respectfully, even when communication feels imperfect or decisions feel unfair.

Honor doesn’t eliminate accountability.
It doesn’t excuse poor performance.
And it doesn’t require agreement.

What it does preserve is dignity.

When honor becomes selective, culture erodes.
When honor becomes consistent, trust deepens, loyalty strengthens, and people stay, not because they have to, but because they feel respected.

True honor isn’t about whether someone deserves it in the moment.
It’s a reflection of who we choose to be.

Leadership Reflection:
Where might honor be tested in your workplace right now, and what would choosing respect look like in that situation?

From the Book: Never Hire Your Friends
Many of the leadership principles behind this lesson are explored in my book, Never Hire Your Friends. It’s not about avoiding relationships at work, it’s about leading them with honor, clarity, and accountability.

Are your hospice claims at risk because of coding uncertainty?

Hospice coding must clearly support the terminal illness and eligibility criteria or claims can quickly turn into denials. In today’s regulatory climate, even small coding missteps can have serious consequences. Hospice coding requires deep, hospice specific experience, not generalist knowledge.

MAC Legacy brings proven, tenured hospice coding expertise. Our team works exclusively with hospice and home health agencies and understands eligibility requirements, LCDs, diagnosis sequencing, and regulatory expectations. We code with accuracy and compliance at the forefront, helping agencies reduce risk before claims are ever submitted.

Medical Appeals:
Beyond coding, MAC Legacy also supports hospices navigating medical review and appeals. Through audit support and consulting services, we help agencies identify coding and eligibility gaps, respond to review findings, and strengthen processes to prevent repeat issues. Our experience allows us to support you not only at the claim level, but throughout the audit and appeal lifecycle.

Partner with a vendor whose experience supports your claims, your compliance, and your mission. Trust MAC Legacy for hospice coding and consulting you can rely on.
