UNT Emergency Management Be Mean Green Ready! Our mission is to create a culture of readiness by ensuring the campus community

The cold front arriving later today will bring rain chances back into the region for a few days. The main change to the forecast this morning is that Thursday morning's low temperatures are trending warmer (above freezing) so the potential for freezing drizzle is now low.

Heads up, Dentonites! The weather starting tonight (Nov. 29) is anticipated to dip into freezing temperatures. As a reminder, the Denton Community Shelter operated by Our Daily Bread will continue its expanded capacity for overnight guests seeking shelter from the cold whenever the wind chill is 32 degrees or below.

Heads Up !

A Flood Watch is in effect tonight through Monday across much of North Texas, generally along and north of I-20. Rainfall totals of 1 to 3 inches, with isolated amounts up to 4 inches, could cause flooding in some areas.

Howdy Eagles!

Game day parking for the Nov. 28 home game starts TODAY at 3 p.m. Why does it start so early? Most of our community will be out of town by the time the game rolls around, so if you or your student plan on leaving your car on campus, you can put it where it needs to be starting today.

Game day parking lots will need to be cleared starting Nov. 28 at 7 a.m. Otherwise, vehicles will be towed to Lot 40 if necessary and vehicles will be given a $125 citation.

Who needs to move:
- Anyone parked in a lot adjacent to DATCU (Lots 70-74, 76, 77, and 80-85)
- Anyone who may be parked in Lot 20 Eagle

Who doesn't need to move:
- Lot 20 Residents
- Everyone else

As always, please feel free to ask us any questions, leave any comments or concerns you may have.

As one wave of heavy precipitation shifts east, another round of storms will arrive later today. By this afternoon, expect the next wave of heavy rain to once again increase the potential for flooding. The main area of concern is now under a Flood Watch through midnight. In addition to the flooding threat, there is a threat for a brief spin-up across Central Texas in the afternoon.

Hey, Denton! With the cold weather moving in this evening, we thought this was the perfect time to remind everyone that any time the wind chill dips below 32 degrees (like it’s expected to this evening), the Denton Community Shelter operated by Our Daily Bread will expand its capacity for overnight guests seeking shelter from the cold.

The US National Weather Service Fort Worth Texas has issued a Freeze Warning for our area from Sunday night through Monday morning.

🌡️ Temperatures could dip as low as 29°F overnight.
❄️ Light frost and freezing conditions may affect plants and outdoor plumbing.

Drivers should also plan for frosty windshields early Monday morning, give yourself a little extra time to warm up the car and drive safely !

A cool start to the week will be followed by warmer weather Tuesday onward, with rain chances arriving in time for the weekend. The coverage and intensity of any weekend storms is uncertain, but we will know more in the coming days. Otherwise, an elevated fire threat will affect areas along and west of I-35 on Tuesday.
